  1. Awesome pictures! Wish they did exciting things like that here. They had fireworks back in 1999 apparently... but no more recent pictures hanging in the lodge. HA!
  2. I have some bolle goggles and really like them.. though I need a seperate set for nighta. With my new boots and bindings here, I will want to spend more time out on the slopes so clear lenses are definitely in order. Heading to the store to night to shop and maybe buy those reusch gloves.....
  3. Nothing too exciting going on today as I didn't wake up in time to take the wife to work again. Current conditions are extremely windy and about 1*C out. Lost only 5cm of base with the warm weather. On a high note, I did get my boots and bindings from home today. As I expected, my buddy had an extremely stiff setup. Along with the DC Allegiance 8/10 stiffness, I also have Flux Feedback bindings, which are a stiff binding as well. I'm wearing the boots right now and getting exciting for tomorrow, even if the conditions suck. I really really missed the double boa setup. More pictures and in
  4. Thats the sad part! I did have strings, but I got them caught up in the safety bar when I took them off to play with my phone a few weeks ago, when I went to lift the bar (Gloves already back on) they ripped off, so I couldnt use them any more. Now Hestra I have heard of! Always like hearing what's on everyone's shopping list. I'll check these out too.
  5. Definitely wouldn't opt for the shaken deal. Pocket that 115k for something else. Though because it's a new car, you'd want to stick to the recommended procedures to get that warranty service.. I bought my car knowing I was voiding it almost immediately, but most people don't do that. Good point about the filter, be sure to change that each time too!
  6. Sounds like all my gear is taking a dive on me recently. Board, boots, gloves. I don't want to have to buy all over again next year! Never heard of the trespass brand... I'll look into them. The Reusch gloves are still staring at me hardcore. I stuck my hand in them at the store and they felt fantastic. But it could be another story out on the mountain.
  7. Going to sound dumb here but google failed me. What's skinning? Traveling on the split board as skis? I read about buying skins and putting them on the board but it's still not connecting.
  8. I hate wet gloves. I was hoping someone had figured it out by now how to keep the moisture out.
  9. Being able to get their fix without bothering other people... I had a boss that used it. apparently its a more pure form of smoking, you don't get the toxins and such... I can see why they're trying to sell it with the "persecution" of smokers across the first world nations. Some even use them to help quit smoking as you can get less and less concentrated doses of nicotine
  10. Sorry.... meant 12k for the pair. And the apartment is mostly back together. Duct tape goes a long way
  11. That's very close to the regimen I use with all my engines. And after the break in switch to synthetic.....except with the diesels which stay dino. I replaced the big end bearings in my cruiser's 4.2 1HD-T a while back and changed the oil at 100km and again at 1000kms and regular changes at 4000kms....(I'm anal). Not cheap with a 10L sump....but.... Also, watch out for long sessions of idling or even long periods at the same rpm...like on cruise control. Definitely during break in! I forgot to mention the switch from dino to synthetic after 1000mi, but I did that as well. Chr
  12. Somehow I misplaced my burton gloves the other day and tore the apartment to pieces trying to find them. No dice, so they must have been donated to the ground somewhere around town. Of course I need another pair before I get out on the mountain was just curious what brands/models people would suggest. I went to the local sports store but felt like they were seasonally overpriced so decided to shop online after trying on a few pairs. I'm a big fan of the reusch relation gloves, but they were 120K for the pair. I don't want expensive gloves that are going to soak through after a bit of w
  13. Agree with snowdude. New cars need those first 2 oil changes fast. I did first oil change after 200m, then 600m then 1000m... but I had a racing engine to break in.. regardless the same theory applies. New engines wear very fast and after the first 1000m it's mostly done and won't generally wont require anything outside of normal maintenance. Congrats on the purchase. Sounds like dealers are the same world wide!
  14. Day 11- February 2nd 2014- The day looked to shape up pretty crappy, but the wife and I were still determined to get out for a few hours. It was already 0*C out by noon and with a predicted high of 7*C with rain, we knew we didn't have long. Normally with rain out in the harbor, we can expect snow on the mountain, but up until the first parking lot it was all rain. We did have snow at the top of the first lift but it was very wet rain and it didn't take long to soak through her gear. There was a 55cm base from the day before, but I expect we'll loose another 10cm after today's weather. I t
  15. This season has been pretty disappointing so far for me. Best days I had out here were the first three I had, right at the beginning of January. BUT! I'll be going to Hokkaido for a weekend and probably Hakkoda once or twice as well to get in some powder days before it all goes to hell. Went out today and it was so wet we couldn't stay more than an hour before the wife had enough. I also lost my gloves somewhere so I was boarding with my hands in my pockets. Felt inclined to turn in as well. Weather here is bouncing all over the place. High of 3 tomorrow followed by a high of -3.
  16. Seems to me you might be the one doing that. Comments like that tell me that I don't think we'd get on particularly well, so no thanks. Enough of this anyway! I can understand your obvious increasing frustration with being lumped with a bit of a crappy season. And I hope it improves, for us all. I checked google earth yesterday. Seems legit.
  17. Ski competition in our town as well today. I was going to get up and go take pictures but I watched a few episodes of Doctor Who then passed out. Supposed to get a high of 7* today and rain in the afternoon so I need to get out there fast.
  18. You're going to be the one fixing it and keeping it up anyway. Might as well get what you are going to be balls deep in.
  19. better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it!
  20. At the top you're only about 600m up, but it's enough for a great view of the area
  21. Snowing consistently but light here this morning, Maybe an extra 5cm. 0*C out. Going to go out for a few hours and try to get the wife to come along.
