  1. Haven't ever seen anyone drink anything IN the onsen itself... Seen people drinking water but out of fountains within the room.
  2. An Ipad?! Canon 7D with a 50mm f/1.4 lens at least i hope....
  3. More so at elitists who have cash to burn I would think. The guys I hung out with that did the real professional editing had some crazy expensive HP work stations (Z800 series) I personally never saw the appeal of apple products myself, though I owned a few throughout the years. I respect their business structure though. Can't say they haven't been successful. You should see some of the adds making fun of the trashcan look of the mac. I'm not too sure what I expect the product to do though really. Its not like the iphone where most people have the liquid cash to go out and buy
  4. As did I, but got the Big Ushot and would never consider going back to that clumsy rig. It is so small and light when collapsed into one section, that it will basically fit in your jacket pocket or the smallest pocket in your pack. It's nothing like carrying an extra pole. It looks great. Reviews are solid too but means more coming from someone on the forums. I'll put this one at the top of the list. Thanks!
  5. I'll look into it, thanks! I snowboard. And the gopro needs a different kind of mount. No normal tripod screw hole. And you want to keep it in it's case.
  6. Media hint extension on chrome has a work around for that. I watch netflix here (Japan) all the time without issue. Its free, and you just choose what country you want to be 'In"
  7. Omg please watch the washing machine harlem shake. I about died laughing Search for Washing machine harlem shake compilation
  8. Sounds like you want to have the snowshoes, because you'll at least have them for the trip. You may not like the splitboard. Plus there's always next time to use it.
  9. My first onsen experience a few weeks back was while it was snowing. The outdoor portion was just the right temperature to just sit and cook for hours without wanting to get out. My wet hair froze, it was kind of weird, but awesome at the same time. It was snowing again this past weekend when I went but it wasn't heavy at all. Have fun!
  10. Tucker and Dale VS evil. Incredibly funny gory movies that makes fun of the horror genre. Should still be on netflix instant watch
  11. I found a few things online for between 5000¥ and 2000¥. But I think I'll hold off until I can look in some actual stores. Either way it seems you need to buy and adapter for the gopro. Its worth it in the long run. If I die in a snowdrift on Hakkoda-san, I can at least shoot a few selfies before I freeze.
  12. I just discovered this part of our bath but the apartments were built in the 60's so its incredibly small. I can't sit in it comfortably. I left the water from yesterday and after a shower I'll try it out to see if I want to leave the water. I like the idea of using it for laundry after you're ready to drain it though. We don't have a hot water tap to the washer so it might help with presoak.
  13. As the title states peeps! At some point I'm going to want to bring the gopro with me to the local slopes, and definitely If I travel around the prefecture. I have a few gopros and want to get a telescoping pole mount, but wanted to get some advice from forum members on what works for them. I'd like to buy with in Japan if at all possible and my price range is about 4000¥ max. Did a quick search and didn't seen anyone talking about specific brands, or places to shop. I tried looking on rakuten as well but I'm not sure what they're called and google translate only gets me so far Thanks
  14. Thanks for the info! Even though you aren't doing Hokkaido trip, if you make it to Aomori let me know. I'll have a pass to Hakkoda and will be running it with some friends out that way. I'll PM you my info once I get settled in.
  15. Hey! hmm.. won't let me PM you yet. Just letting you know I picked up a 180cm birdman based off your suggestions earlier this year. Going to bring it all over with the household goods when I ship. I didn't see anything about the boots or bindings you use. I'm not sure if I'm going to have issues with stiffness or not, but definitely want to buy here in the next month or so pre-season. I'm moving out in about a month now!
  16. Just pulled the trigger on a 2012 Libtech Birdman 180cm Yay off season prices.
  17. I think my biggest disappointment was getting somewhere in the tohoku just because shimokita-ben is so prevalent up there. I wanted to pick up proper Japanese first. But it's not much different from here. I grew up in the south and in new england, and have no specific accent whatsoever.
  18. The media I've uncovered actually shows a few tight knit groups that snowboard there with a few jumps and long slopes. David: Thanks for actually confirming it. The groups that were calling it kamabuse are native japanese, which is why it threw me off...
  19. So I did some more looking and I'll be damned if a slight linguistic change in pronuciation doesnt get a crap ton more results. So the mountain is 釜臥山(かまふせやま)but when searching in romaji, kamafuse, because I want english results, I get hardly a drop. When i search kamabuse, POW tons of results and videos. Rendaku is retarded man. I found a PR video from mutsu city on the slopes with their city mascot (an alien called mr muchuran that landed from space on mt kamafuse) trying to ski and snowboard. Hillarious while at the same time informative to what the slopes look like. There's a pretty am
  20. I did a quick google search on the area as soon as we found out. The most interesting thing about the place is that it was the first city to use just hiragana for its name
