What's it doing in Muikamachi now? Looks like Tanigawa is getting some snow but I imagine it could be dryer. -

Akakura Onsen -
It's too bad it was so hazy. The views were really nice when I went last year. I think I'm going to go this Saturday. Reading about the queue for the ropeway has me a bit worried though. I was hoping to spend the day riding down from the top of the ropeway. Probably still will but looks like I will be doing some waiting. Despite the haze you got some nice pics!

Tangram question
Gunma Boarder replied to snowdude's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I enjoyed Tangram last year. Spent most of the time in Madarao but had a joint ticket. Here is my TR. Don't know if there will be as much powder as when I went though...... http://www.snowjapanforums.com/index.php/topic/22684-madarao-and-tangram-powder-adventure-feb-16-and-17-2013/page__hl__madarao__fromsearch__1 -

After a sunny day yesterday it's coming down pretty good here! Wish I could take tomorrow off....... Might do some nighta. -
Trying to move these conversations over to my new amazing thread http://www.snowjapanforums.com/index.php/topic/23835-what-are-you-doing-this-weekend-want-to-hang-out/page__pid__516519#entry516519 I would guess Iwakura got enough snow to fix what happened last weekend. It might in fact be really good. If I had to guess I would say 30 - 40 cm of fresh snow but that is just a guess based on the Minakami Now report. I have to admit if I had Tuesday off I would consider going then. It looks like a good bit more snow is going to fall between now and then. Wish I could get Tuesday off.......

Let's Myoko!
Gunma Boarder replied to Mick Rich's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I've seen Seki in summer. Only reason I would pick Seki is because I like the hot spring a lot and my family could watch me snowboard from the ryokan across the street! The snow fall numbers are also pretty insane. Other than that I will look into Suginohara and Akakura Kanko (which I assume is the same as Akakan). Thanks for the info -

I'm going to put on my parent cap for a second. If the av risk might be high why risk it? Doing tricks and wall riding is definitely not as fun for me as riding powder but I have been learning for days when venturing off piste might be more dangerous than usual. Hit some side trail stuff and find some fun jumps to hit if the risk is too high especially if you are alone. Also maybe ask someone at the resort?
