First of all I have to thank the Kagura staff as well as a random stranger that brought my camera to them.Without them this thread would not be possible. I was careless with the zipper on my backpack and my camera fell out. I was sure it was in the woods and I would never see it again. I only called them after the fact on the off chance someone found it. I will be more careful from now on. I had a beautiful day at Kagura yesterday. I walked up from the Kagura quad lift to the top of Kaguragamine entering the the fantastical land of the snow creatures. They appear as different things for ev

JR EAST PASS VS SINGLE TICKET - TOKYO TO NAGANO
Gunma Boarder replied to manfredk's topic in General off-topic discussions
Probably not worth it. The only advantage would be not buying tickets every time. You might consider a Kanto pass (you can buy them at Narita airport). They are for any three days and are 8,000 yen. Problem is they don't cover to Nagano, but they do cover to Sakudaira and from Sakudaira to Nagano and back is 6,500 yen. Tokyo to Nagano and back is 15,940 yen with the pass would be 14,500. If the timing is right you could also take a JR train instead of the Skyliner from Narita to Tokyo and this would also be covered in the pass. no and no. But both are pretty close. -
I posted some of these pictures on the "Guess Where This Is" thread and got some requests for a trip report so here it is. My friend and I took a trip to climb Mt. Tateshina in Nagano prefecture a couple of years back. We started the trip by climbing Mt. Kurumayama which you can drive almost to the top of (hence the name 車山?) . We made it in time to watch the sunset from the peak. For how easy it is to get to, the views are amazing. This is a picture of the shrine at the peak and Mt. Tateshina as well as a few other mountains in the Yatsugatake range. As the sun began to set.
