It is pretty easy: Scrape, minor tune and wax, buffed back to ridable takes me a very leisurely 1 hour with beer(s) in hand. My 8 year old daughter helps melt the wax on too You can get an edging tool, wax and wax iron and buff stone for a reasonable price online. (Perhaps as much as or 1.5 times the price of a shop tune). Plenty of videos on what to do available on line as well. If you bases does not need any Ptex repair or the edges do not have any major imperfections,

Thanks, I have had a couple of earlier Xacti as well and still have the original HD1000, have you tried the filming in 920 to get a higher field of view as opposed to the wide... I ended up getting a wide angle lens for the HD1000 Xacti to keep filming in full HD but even that wasn't enough for me, hence two cameras now when I added to GoPro, but still use the 920 res.
