  3. I just received my travel docs from the travel agent, and there's a note in the holiday brief that the use of UHF-CB radios on the slopes is illegal??? Is this true?

  6. Do they have free tours of the resort at Niseko like they do in the US & Canada? i'll be in Niseko from Feb 14-19. anyone want to hook up and ride/tour in a group together?
  7. Is it worth getting a Green-class ticket or will ordinary suffice?
  8. hey snowluvva (Scott), I'll be in Niseko from 13-20 Feb. My wife and I are photogs in Sydney. Mainly weddings and portraits though... nothing compared to "action" on the slopes I'd be keen to hook up to shoot for a day. Paul
  9. I was thinking of getting those cash cards from travellex or flight centre... would these be generally accepted anywhere? particularly Niseko? I plan on bringing sufficient cash to Niseko anyway, but also need money for touring later..
  10. Thanks for those tips BM. I'll look into what u've suggested The idea of the trip from Fuji to Kawaguchiko sounds nice, but as you say, we'll have to look at our timings.
  11. Cool thanks all for the tips. BM: we're planning on basing ourselves in Kyoto and just doing a day trip to Nara. But on the return leg to Tokyo stopping for a night at Mt Fuji. When I say "at Mt Fuji" i mean somewhere nearby so we can see as you say from afar. Any suggestions on where the best place is to stop, stay and view Mt Fuji? I've heard/read about Fujigoko?
  12. 7 day rail pass: 28,300Y for ordinary class 37,800Y for green class http://www.japanrailpass.net/eng/en003.html
  13. Hey all, trying to work out whether to purchase a Jap Rail Pass or not for a week's touring. Not sure which is more economical. any advice or suggestions are most welcome Our itinerary is as follows: Tokyo > Kyoto > Nara (day trip) > Mt Fuji > Tokyo All this over 6/7 nights. Cheers
  14. wow... lots of things to consider here. my wife and I are planning on bringing our hiking boots. i guess we'll see how the conditions are on the ground in Niseko and decide then whether we need to buy cleats or hire apres boots for the week. thanks all for the helpful info
  15. hmm.. will have to look into that. will be staying at the Yutaka Townhouses in Niseko so not sure if there's any extra luggage storage/Takkyubin services.
  16. hmm... bit late to change our itinerary... we're locked in to ski for a week and then to tour after. do u recall roughly how much they charged you for left luggage at Narita? we did this earlier this year on our honeymoon to Canada. Left our skis in left luggage at Changi and Heathrow. didn't cost us too much then. was hoping to do the same at Narita.
  17. yeah that's the plan thursday we fly in to Narita on fri evening and fly out on Sat morning hoping to hit the slopes for a couple of runs on Sat arvo/evening in Niseko. but the takkyubin option suggested by JA is appealing for the return cos we'll be touring Tokyo/Kyoto for another week. can we send our gear straight back to Narita airport to be picked up a week later when we fly out?
  18. i found this DryGuy GripOn Traction is this the kind of thing you're talking about?
  19. oh ok cool i'll have to look into those flights. will save transferring to Haneda! thanks guys!
  20. oh really? i was under the impression that all flights to Sapporo fly out from Haneda...
  21. What is the recommended method of transfer from Narita to Haneda with ski bags? Is is easy to take the train? Or is it better to get a private transfer? Thanks
