Oh, no... Hope you are ok. Knee injury is something I really don´t want to get. I stretch and rotate a lot. So far, it has held up countless bad landings. Being light weight and flexible sure do help, Shoulders are another story. I have constant pain these days. Just annoying. Trying to avoid surgery but ... I´m getting older I think. I agree . But some skiers really do like moguls. It´s not all that different from slaloms, so maybe have one course dedicated to it. This raises some questions. I think you do need some technical approach in how to use your ski and approach moguls. Modern carving skis are not all that good for moguls IMO (I tried) In my case, I still have my 2m ski and don´t have a problem with it. Sure, something shorter is easier for moguls , but for me to use new skis would require me to get instruction - so, am I caught up in the past for my preference in ski design? Maybe, but I really don´t

See what I mean when I say that it´s important to know what´s under the snow ! You can dig a snow pit and discuss which layer can slide, but... missing out on something, aren´t we? Grassy hill are easier to slide, and where do you get that mostly? On piste and slack. Ever wonder why some ski-jo leaves tree stumps and logs along the lift line? It´s not like they don´t want you to go there.

As an old skool skier in Japan, moguls are just an unavoidable condition. Once you get the hang of it, it isn´t all that difficult if you approach it in a certain way. The ultimate is straight lining it, your body doesn´t divert from the fall line ... It´s cool to watch this stuff, but when you think about it, this is all artificial terrain. In a way, it´s like park ... Narrow ski runs plus lots of people with most average skiers transverse gives you moguls. We used to dream about European Alps. I can relate to GN on this one. As much I like powder, the quality of powder I can get here is a matter of luck ( meteo conditions, temp ) There is the depth were it get a bit tricky. One is not deep enough I hit the bottom (moguls, rock) and that is pretty much similar to groomed piste / dust on cust. If money is not an issue, we probably get out there.

Back to the Vid. What would you have done if it were you ? I would have got out on the roof earlier. Reasoning - 2 ways to die, you can drown by being trapped in the car and go under (another car might push it under) .. or crushed if you are out and fall in the water. I´d take my chance on the roof and see if I can hop onto something bigger passing by. But as soon as I see the rapids, oh oh .. I´ll drag out my seat belt out of the window as a hand hold.

Having scenarios running in your head is a good thing. But I´d rather go with the 6th sense, All you can do is to be prepared (for the inevitable and the unknown) Doesn´t freak me out at all.

MO I´m really impressed that you notice it and have deep consideration about the Japanese language. Only if the Japanese themselves do that they would be speaking correct Japanese . I think the language is in decline for the last 30 years. We were told so as teenagers ourselves. It´s very rare and with due respect. Good on you. Mamabear, I know that feeling it´s gonna wash out and it doesn´t. It´s a bit unsettling, I think it is a compromise. Boards that turn on a whim ( short radius ) tend to do that on higher speed. They have deeper side cuts, so the edge doesn´t hold very well t the end of the turn... but the side curve on the board helps the initial turning.

I´ve noticed that after a couple of years. This applies to me too and has got me thinking, why do I keep buying true twins when I know a directional twin would better for my riding style? I guess it's a combination of sticking with what you know and harbouring an annual desire to improve my switch-riding and buttering/ground tricks, all of which are crap! That said, I think I'll be heading over to the directional twin camp next time, probably with a Ride Berzerker or Slackcountry, as referred to earlier in this post. Mick, my switch used to suck big. Ah, yeah, forgot to add. You can go switch on a directional board. I know what you mean by at times we do go switch ... I have no issues with it even when it´s set backed a bit.

Arimasu needs an additional Ri okuri-gana, and kudasai needs sa. Most importantly, the Japanese written doesn´t make sense. You can´t lift up the safety bar and hood and go forward at the same time.

It was from my dad and mum. It´s quite sobering when you hear about walking in Tokyo and seeing a river full of charred body, no water in it for anyone to escape the heat, but just charred bodies replacing the river ... or burned bodies lying in a fan pattern, all trying to escape from a building.
