Well I had last day now. I need to move away for a month on business and so no more skiing until hopefully November. I'll try to put summer photo of Zao up though.

Summer is coming. Maybe I need a summer thread for these photos now!

The top 1/3 of the resort was sprinkled with snow earlier this week. It almost felt like early season!

10cm of snow a few days ago!

08/09 was definitely less snow than we are used to. Still Zao is high and we had a decent season. But I hope next year is better and more consistent heavy snowfall.

Hi! This time, Gassan in Yamagata. My season might (might!) be over now after this time.

Ski season finished now, but they managed 167 days. The Zao Chuo Ropeway is open as normal but the Zao Skycable and Zao Ropeway are closed for maintenance (Skycable from 7th May - 29th May, Ropeway from 7th May - 21st May). The Zao Echoline road is now also open. It is always sad at end of season, but Zao brings us many fun things throughout year. I will post more photos from time to time.

Just a few small hills nearby (Liza World). There are more resort in Yamagata but not closeby and smaller - Zao is the biggest. There are some resort in same mountain range but in Miyagi and while close in terms of distance, they are not close in terms of access from each other.

Very late April snow! There was nearly 10cm of new snow at the top of the mountain.

I am always surprised how Kagura can keep open so long..... good for them I suppose!

No new photos sorry just went up there yesterday - still fair snow at the top but big patches down below. Basically the Chuo/Utopia upper slopes now open. This season spring came early I think and personally I think it will be difficult open end of GW.

It is about 230km to Morioka from Zao most on expressway.
