The latest Zao Now report can be found here . Just a little snow to report this morning. Forecast? Some decent snow still there over the next 2-3 days, so hopefully we are going to be ending 2018 in a decent fashion... we're still rather low on snow and in need of a few dumps of the stuff. It helps the excitement levels too! The Onsen Number 4 quad lift appears to be moving now, so there's just 6 lifts that are currently not open. They're all playing with what we got though and everyone will be happy to get some good numbers of fresh snow in. Here's to some good snowy news tomorrow. Operation info from official sources: All lifts are scheduled to be operating apart from the following lifts - Zao Paradise Number 3 pair - Onsen Number 4 quad - Zao Kokutai pair - Ryuzan pair - Karamatsu pair - Oomori quad Official snow depths (as reported by resort): - Summit area: 55cm - Paradise area: 50cm - Chuo area: 60cm - Utopia area: 50cm - Uwanodai area: 40cm - Oomori area: 30cm Zao Now 2018-2019 season Data as of Thursday 27th December 2018 Total snowfall at base 129cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 17 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 32cm (on 20th December) November 2018 snowfall 7cm observed on 3 days December 2018 snowfall 122cm observed on 14 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Zao Onsen. • Shiga Kogen Now: Thursday 27th December 2018

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 1cm Snowfall at base this season 76cm Posted on Thursday 27th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Good morning from Shiga Kogen. Light snow is falling and it is fairly calm... for now. Just a bit of snow on the ground. But more stormy-like conditions are forecast over the next few days and the heavy snow we are all waiting for should be with us. Personally I can't wait to get deep into some powder conditions as I haven't had that feeling yet this season. It is about time. So yes, look for some good snowfall numbers in the next few reports. I look forward to being able to bring smiles to faces! Ski hill operations around Shiga Kogen remain limited. I notice that Ichinose Family are saying that from today all of their courses are open. So they are trying to get as much out of the current snow we have as possible. If we get a few days of heavy snowfall - that will change. Quickly. :) Shiga Kogen Now 2018-2019 season Data as of Thursday 27th December 2018 Total snowfall at base 76cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 14 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 14cm (15th December) November 2018 snowfall 3cm reported on 2 days December 2018 snowfall 73cm reported on 12 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Shiga Kogen. • Myoko Now: Thursday 27th December 2018

The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . The snow is back on, and the temperature is down in Myoko today. The announcer on local FM Myoko says it will be 6° colder than yesterday, with a 90% chance of snow. Good odds, I'd say. Only about 2cm so far, but it's coming down more heavily at times. Hopefully my snow study equipment will all be buried by tomorrow (I love having to probe for my study boards; they're 70cm tall but even then they often disappear). Thanks, too, to the people who made some nice comments on SnowJapan's Facebook page after my long explanation of my approach to doing these reports. It's all about sharing, right, not the ¥ (cause there isn't. Any.) He he he. I have to admit I've been caught a couple of times "You're the Myoko Now! guy, aren't you?" My secret identity largely remains just that. Great skiing here, folks; just bundle up today, especially as we're likely to get stronger winds tonight and into tomorrow. I'll report those who are up today. Also, most main lifts are now running, so I'll only note unusual closures, etc. Akakura Kanko: 90cm, -2° (yesterday's report) Akakura Onsen: 105cm, 0° Ikenotaira Onsen: 70cm, 0° Myoko Suginohara: 55cm, -1° (yesterday's report) Seki Onsen: 120cm, -3° (yesterday's report) Open Myoko Ski Park: 70cm, -5° (yesterday's report) Kyukamura RunRun: 100cm, -2° Tangram Ski Circus: 65cm, -3° (yesterday's report) Madarao Kogen: 80cm, 0° (yesterday's report) Lotte Arai Resort No report; the Lotte worldwide server is down! The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning and Happy Christmas to everyone from Hakuba. It's good to feel much colder this morning and it really is a beautiful morning. The sun is out and there are clear blue skies over Hakuba. Resorts are continuing to do their best with the snow we got - Cortina seem to gradually be opening more (with Rabbit and Kamoshika runs now available), as do Tsugaike Kogen, though I notice that the low-lying Hakuba Sanosaka ski hill in the southern area of Hakuba has closed again this morning. It was partly open over the weekend, but there's not enough snow for them to keep going today. So we wait for some good snowfall to arrive. The forecasts are still looking very promising from Thursday onwards with lots of snow forecast for the entire region. I am guessing that is higher up as I am measuring 6cm... but hopefully it will be building up as the snow continues today. There's a bit of a cold wind today too. We can probably expect to see some sunshine tomorrow but heavy snow is coming our way late weekend. Thursday through the weekend is looking to be very promising indeed. Bring it on, I say.
