Independent snow and weather reporting from the Zao region of Yamagata

New snowfall at base 33cm
Snowfall at base this season 162cm

Posted on Friday 28th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Zao Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Zao.

Wow lots of snow to report this morning. I am measuring 33cm in my usual spot. Great stuff. And we can expect more over at least the next few days.

It is cold - very cold (coldest of the season so far?) and there's lots of fresh snow everywhere, being blown about too.

Visibility is a bit limited on lower slopes and poor in places.

Looks like the Kokutai pair lift is going to be moving today, so just four lifts not operating yet - including the Oomori quad.
