  • Myoko Now: Saturday 21st February 2026

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 1067cm Posted on Saturday 21st February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . It’s sunny, not really warm just yet, the humidity is down.... I got a weather alert from a major Japanese weather site noting that the temperatures Monday are going to be April level. Ouch, especially with the low snow levels we already have, and with more than a month left in the season. Looks like there may be some really strong southwest winds driving the warm spell, which also will eat up the snowpack. Ah, well, make the most of the warm weather, wax up the boards to deal with the sticky spring snow and enjoy getting a reverse-panda suntan (white eyes and tan face, a term they use around here at least). -- Akakura Kanko: 280cm, -3° Akakura Onsen: 345cm, -3° Alpen Blick Resort 230cm, -4° Myoko Suginohara: 160cm top, 115cm base; -7° Kyukamura RunRun: 280cm, -2° Seki Onsen: 600cm, 0° (the most accurate temperature report today, I think) Tangram Madarao Tokyu Resort: 137cm, -6° Madarao Mountain Resort: 200cm, -1° Lotte Arai Resort: 439cm, -1° Kurohime Kogen Snow Park: 210cm top, 110cm base; 0° Myoko Now 2025-2026 season Data as of Saturday 21st February 2026 Total snowfall at base so far 1067cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 48 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 120cm (on 25th January) November 2025 snowfall 35cm reported on 1 day December 2025 snowfall 184cm reported on 11 days January 2026 snowfall 646cm reported on 24 days February 2026 snowfall 202cm reported on 12 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Myoko. Light snow lingered until just earlier but there's some blue sky now. I am happy to report much less wind, too. As with much of Japan, spring-like sunshine and warmth is forecast for the weekend. • Nozawa Now: Friday 20th February 2026

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 3cm Snowfall at base this season 713cm Posted on Friday 20th February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . It would seem that the next three days are going to be characterized by sunny clear skies and warming temps during the daytime, peaking on Sunday (when temps will rise above 10C in the village). Having said that, it's pretty cold early on! A high of about 4C is forecast for early afternoon today. Over the coming days I'm going to try my very best to not bang on about future potential snowfall this season. As things stand, there's not much sign of it on forecasts. (I still believe, of course... as does Naski!) All the more reason, perhaps, why we should get out there and enjoy what we have while we have it. That's what I'm going to do, and it will be fun. ---------------------------- Fresh snowfall since yesterday afternoon (reported by the ski area): Yamabiko: 0cm Uenotaira: 0cm Hikage: 0cm Nagasaka: 0cm Karasawa: 0cm Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area): Yamabiko: 265cm Uenotaira: 240cm Hikage: 160cm Nagasaka: 140cm Karasawa: 120cm Scheduled lift operations: All operating as normal Courses that are not available (when the ski area is operating as normal): All open Information on the ski area: Nozawa Onsen Nozawa Now 2025-2026 season Data as of Friday 20th February 2026 Total snowfall at base 713cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 46 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 76cm (on 25th January) November 2025 snowfall 15cm reported on 1 day December 2025 snowfall 134cm reported on 11 days January 2026 snowfall 438cm reported on 22 days February 2026 snowfall 126cm reported on 12 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Nozawa Onsen. Nice and cold earlier this morning, as I got out to do some snow throwing with my trusty Peter (the local name for the snowthrowers; don’t know why but it seems to be just here and down to Joetsu City by the ocean). Not a huge amount of fresh, but maybe there will be more up high to make backcountry a little more fun.
