Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 713cm

Posted on Friday 20th February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

It would seem that the next three days are going to be characterized by sunny clear skies and warming temps during the daytime, peaking on Sunday (when temps will rise above 10C in the village).

Having said that, it's pretty cold early on! A high of about 4C is forecast for early afternoon today.

Over the coming days I'm going to try my very best to not bang on about future potential snowfall this season. As things stand, there's not much sign of it on forecasts. (I still believe, of course... as does Naski!)

All the more reason, perhaps, why we should get out there and enjoy what we have while we have it. That's what I'm going to do, and it will be fun.
