Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this season 713cm

Posted on Monday 23rd February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Yesterday was definitely warmer than Saturday, up to about 12.5C, and it was actually pretty warm overnight. I actually slept with the window open, something I normally do in spring and autumn --- though not in February!

Today will not be as warm, hurray, though we are starting with a rather damp conditions. Happily, the forecast for the day is just cloud, so hopefully it will dry up. Early on there's limited visibility up on the mountain.

Some sun is due tomorrow.

Looking ahead a bit further, I am encouraged to see some snow appearing on forecasts for the middle of next week. March has in the past given us some lovely surprises, so let's all hope we can get some of that!
