Morning from Zao as the cold and wintery conditions continued. It might be fun for all the powder hunters on the slopes, but the resort is having to play catch up a bit.

Getting back to something like normal here in Zao. The Ropeways are back up and running though it looks like the Kurohime quads and Paradise lifts amongst a few others are still not moving.

Strong winds continue in Zao this morning and it's a fluid situation but there are a few limited lifts operating as of 10am including a few base pairs and the Chuo pairs.

It has been something of a crazy day here in Zao.

Those official numbers don't seem to have budged, but there has been a lot of new snow over the last two days.

We ended up with some very stormy weather yesterday evening - enough to cancel the light up top ropeway operations.

It might be snowing more in Tokyo than Zao this morning. Which seems odd, but hopefully very soon change!

A few cm of fresh snow this morning on the ground outside my place at base and earlier on the sun was out but it has since clouded over somewhat.

Morning from a snowy and windy Zao again. Over 10cm of fresh snow on the ground, cold, strong winds blowing it about and poor visibility is the story of the day here.

Coldest day of the season? Might well be.

Strong winds this morning... and lots of the mountain is closed due to those conditions at the moment meaning a bit of congestion on the base lifts open.

A good new amount of snow to report this morning from here in Zao. 20cm or so I would say, which hopefully means something more than that on the mountain.

The day ended up with some fairly wild conditions yesterday - enough to have the night time "light up" cancelled unfortunately.

First of all one thing about yesterdays report... I didn't mean that "no new snow" was a good thing, just that the weather was very fine and that it was a feel good day out and about.
