We almost avoided rain up here in Shiga Kogen - but not quite. Rain earlier on turned into sleet and is now snowing.

Good morning from Shiga Kogen and it is a beautiful start to the day here in the region.

The snow and very cold conditions continue.

As expected, it's calm this morning here in Shiga Kogen after the wilder conditions of yesterday.

Once the wind eases off this morning and some of the lifts that are stopped at the moment get going again, it will be excellent conditions again.

Just, like,.... wow. It just keeps on dumping down huge amounts of snow!

The official website this morning is claiming a full 85cm of fresh snow this morning.

26cm of fresh snow on the ground to report this morning with heavy snow still falling and forecast to continue doing so for the next few days.
