Yesterday was one of those days when conditions change very quickly. The morning was lovely. Clearing up with some beautiful blue clouds over the town and just a few clouds around. Afternoon was a different story though. Clouds gathered and snow started to fall. And it's still falling this morning. And there's a decent amount of new snow on the ground to show for it as well.

Perhaps another 20cm or so since yesterday, though a bit difficult to tell with the wind and some places looking more stacked than others. I had to move up to 15cm off the car this morning here in Minamiuonuma and there was some on there yesterday as well....

Yes the snow has been coming down hard overnight and we wake to a very snowy morning in Yuzawa. Strong winds were blowing about later on in the evening yesterday and the snow started falling. There must be about 30cm of new snow here in town areas and more on the mountain.

More snow this morning though not a huge amount. Perhaps 5-10cm or so in places with resorts around town reporting anything from 10cm to up to 30cm once again at Kagura. It is still snowing lightly this morning but not the kind of snow that is building up the cm - the roads are clear and visibility is decent.

Snowfall did continue through until this morning though perhaps just 10-15cm since the report yesterday morning. The snow has eased off now and the clouds seem to be breaking up with more and more blue sky appearing and the sun casting shadows down on the valley in places. Feels like it might clear up nicely today.

It felt strange watching the Japanese news last night with heavy snowfall in Tokyo and other areas. A very large number of people being inconveniences by snow that they don't expect. Looking at the reports, more snow had fallen in central Tokyo than in Yuzawa. Very strange - one of those 'what's wrong with this picture?' moments!

This morning we are back to snow though. Perhaps not as much as some places nearer Tokyo (!) but around 5cm being reported from ski resorts around town and Naeba saying up to 20cm of fresh snow in some places on their resort slopes.

Yesterday the weather was a strange one. It started off with those thin clouds and seemed to cloud over more before starting to clear up mid-morning. By late morning the sun was out and the clouds had almost all gone from the sky and lunchtime to mid afternoon it was a very fine day weather wise. Snow was good as well from the reports I have been hearing from people out and about.

This morning started off bright and sort of clear but a thin layer of cloud up in the skies above Yuzawa - more blue skies to the north in Minamiuonuma.

In my report I said 'nothing major' when talking about the snow lined up over the week. That's what the report said yesterday morning but the snow came and we have had a decent amount fall since then. Reports from around town vary, as they do of course, but I would say 20cm around town and the most being reported is from Kagura where up to 40cm has fallen.

Fresh snow! Not a huge amount for sure, but good to see snow falling once again this morning. Very light snow was falling in Yuzawa from time to time in the day yesterday, then more snow started falling last night. Woke to a few cm of snow on the ground this morning and light snow falling.

It did end up being rather cloudy yesterday but snow didn't happen in town and there's no new snow to report. It's hovering around freezing point now and should rise to around +3C today in Yuzawa. Once again the sun is out and we have blue skies above us.

Earlier on this morning the sun was out and lots of blue sky above Yuzawa but it has quickly been clouding over. It is looking very cloudy just to the north in Minamiuonuma.

Yesterday it was snowing and cloudy for the whole day but there was only a thin coating of new snow to show for it by evening in town, and this morning the resorts around Yuzawa are reporting 1-5cm of snow - Kagura up top 5-10cm since yesterday.
