Nothing much happened snow-wise yesterday, so I kinda jumped a day.... We haven't been hit by the huge snows that have fallen further northeast, but that's OK, too (no avalanches, no highway closures around here yet).

Countdown to Opening: Snow Day One

A big start to December: snow all through the day Saturday, for a total of 61cm at base level.

Another attempted start to the snow season, with 8cm here at base level. It looks like it will continue through the day this time, though, with the weather reports predicting upwards of 30cm.

Genuine snow down past the highway today; about 10cm at the lifts. Not enough to ski, of course, but it's the first for the season.

Snow is falling at base level; the first of the season! It's not a lot, it's barely white, but it's snow. A quick peek through the fog this morning also showed some pretty white slopes up on the hill.

It's a wintery-looking day up in the mountains today; we've had rain and sun and one of the biggest rainbows I've ever seen here. Looks like it could be snowing up high—hard to say for sure, but it's always fun to look up and think about the coming months.

More 'signs' to report from Myoko where the first snow of the season was walked upon up at Tsubame Onsen (1120m) yesterday morning.
