Genuine snow down past the highway today; about 10cm at the lifts. Not enough to ski, of course, but it's the first for the season. Very heavy, too; glad a lot didn't fall, because these early snows always bring down trees and power lines. There were a few crews running around with power line equipment, so there must have been some minor damage.

I have set up a proper snow study area right near the house here (so just below the base at Akakan), so I can give more accurate snow depths and snowfall figures (but I won't bore you with snow density reports unless it's really light or super heavy). So I can tell you that we had exactly 8cm here, and a walk up to the lifts showed a little more. Not bad, huh? Now to set up the automated weather station (if prompt work payment comes in soon!).

All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Myoko. The 'new snowfall' number represents the amount of snow measured since the previous report. All opinions are those of the individual reporters. Information regarding ski area operations is manually checked every morning and is believed to be correct at the time of the report.
