bong 0
You know, like DJ scratching or whatever it's called. Is there an art to it, or is it as simple as it looks (moving a vinyl record back and forth on a turntable). Ha! Someone enlighten me!
indosnm 0
anyone can scratch a record, but to do it with timing, using samples and to a beat takes a little practise.
grungy-gonads 54
A little practise? Is that it?
indosnm 0
bit hard to explain in words, just come over and I will show ya! I prefer to mix House - Trance, not a great deal of scratching. Rap of course is a scratchers heaven!

griller 9
An art that needs years of practice to get anywhere near good. Honest! BTW, who are the "best scratchers" in the world?!
Fattwins 0
No fakie I think understands this subject a little more. Too bad he is away for 3 weeks.
Goemon 0
Usually, the best scratchers are "officially" crowned at the DMC World Chapionship events. This includes "Singles" and battle crews. The 2002 World Champ is Japan's own Kentaro. Here are some past champs: DMC Champs Lotsa other good info in the site, including a Hall of Fame. The World finals have normally been held in Tokyo at Velfarre, but it shifts to Brixton Academy in London this year. Not sure where/when the Japan regional finals are gonna be held, but I wanna go this year. Having said all of that, a lot of the best DJs don't enter the competition because either: a) they've won before it takes to much time outta their schedule c) they already know they're the best I'd rate Q-Bert as the undisputed king right now.
