mattlucas 0
So I was planning on going backpacking this long weekend however the typhoon is kind of scaring me so unless it passes before Saturday Morning I will out of luck for those plans. So I was wondering where the good ski stores are in Nagoya. Are they centralized like in Tokyo and easy to find. This will be my first trip to a big city so I need directions please. Thanks for any info.

mattlucas 0
I'm not really looking for anything at the moment. This is just always the time I start the pilgrimage to all the stores looking at gear and fantisizing about what the winter will hold.

mikazooki 0
there is not much downtown. in sakae your best bet is himaraya, they have a floor of ski gear. the other stores only do snowboarding, and not very well. meieki (nagoya station) has nothing i know of. in shin sakae there is victoria sports which manages to get quite a bit of stuff out, but they recently pissed me off re a MTB i just bought so they get a solid thumbs down on service. elsewhere alpens are scattered quite evenly, but nowhere central. as for smaller specialised shops, no idea. there was one near my old place in motoyama, but it had limited stock. nagoya dome has a big sell-for-all some time soonish (he says under his breath not knowing the exact time), where there is plenty old season gear sometimes with pretty good discounts. fattwins' advice is usually good, ask OU for eye candy.... i havent noticed ski stuff, but the snow boards are out in parco, so other places may soon follow. i'll scope himaraya today and let u know if the ski stuff is out. u dont need directions in nagoya, its not that big, exit at the right subway, and ask some likely puinter for the whereabouts of your desired store
indosnm 0
MASA pro shop across the main intersection from Victoria sports has winter stock out now, but only snowboard gear. which doesn't really help you does it!

mikazooki 0
i dont think MASA does ski gear. himaraya has its snowboard gear out now...but u'll have to wait til mid october for ski gear... u could always join the funky crew and start one planking.
OUfreeski2 0
That mega sale at the dome is only snowboard gear. I go to the MASA snowboard shop a fair bit they are all good guys and the owners` cool. Victoria sports is another big store but w/no stock in at the mo,I reckon.
indosnm 0
Yep MASA is only snowboard gear. (becuase the owner is BURTON japan! & they sponsor me ) You can still pick up clothing there cheap. skiiers/boarders these days wear pretty much the same clothes don't they? They have last years gear for 50% now. the MEGA sale is pretty crap as they really only have a few bargains and everythiung else is not that much off. Better off looking around at shops and getting the 50% off deals or even more sometimes
mattlucas 0
The typhoon seems to not be affecting us here in the Alps so I am going to risk it and go climbing/hiking like I had originally planned. It seems like it is still to early anyways to go drool over winter gear so thanks for all the info. I will be making a trip to one of the big cities in the coming months to see what I can pick up.
