mostwanted 0
I'm fairly new to Japan and new here, can't wait for winter to arrive and get my first experience here. I'm in the Tokyo region and will be using the trains a lot (unless I can hook up with some boarding buddies who I can catch a lift with) - - and wondering how the trains are setup for all the people taking equipment? I presume they have areas for all the gear on the trains in winter? Cheers mw
scouser 4
hi mostwanted. Nope, the trains don't have that much space, you just get packed in like cold sardines in winter and get on peoples nerves.
montoya 0
For overnight trips where we are staying at a lodge or whatever, we usually stuff everything into our snowboard bags and ship it via takkyubin (send it from your nearest local convenience store). Saves alot of hassle. For day-trips, we just pack light and endure the Shinkansen ride. That might change this winter if we can find a place in Yuzawa...
mattlucas 0
Just push your way onto the train with all your shit. Gets even more fun on local's during rush hour.
Fattwins 0
depends on many things. Not every train is packed even at rush hour. Japanese people wont say crap so just get in there.
grungy-gonads 54
You might find it easier to takyubin your gear ahead of you, especially if you're staying somewhere.
Kid B 0
Are there loads of special trains in the ski season to the main places (ie hakuba, yuzawa etc)
