Siren 0
What is the meaning of 'hi' in 'Higuma'? I asked my Japanese friends but no one seems to know the answer.
woywoy 0
I think its the specific word for "brown bear" and is written with the same kanji as "kuma" but with a different radical on the top, 羆。 Anyone correct me if I am wrong.
Siren 0
Thanks Woywoy. You could be right as that is the most common explanation I get. A friend suggested '緋熊' (as in 緋色, golden brown bear) but I doubt that is correct. Some also suggested '日熊' (Japanese bear) but that is also not very likely.
