mfurmane 0
I am new to Japan and am looking for accessible places to snowbord this winter. Weekend trips are most attractive, but longer stays are OK. I live in Nagoya. Does anybody have advice on taking trains to the mountains, where to go for easiest access, where to go for best riding, etc.? A not-so trusting coworker mentioned a place near Tokyo that one can hop right off the train and step up to the ticket counter....anybody know of this place? grungy-gonads 54
That would be GALA YUZAWA in Yuzawa, Niigata - it has its own Shink station with a gondola in the same building. Check out the resort reviews on this site for opinions on the place http://www.snowjapan.com/e/voice/readrereview3.php?resortName=GALA%20Yuzawa&prefecture=Niigata Surely not one of your top targets, especially from Nagoya. Fattwins 0
Your best option is Gifu. Take buses from nagoya station to the resorts. Lots of guys on here from around there. This year I figure car pooling will spike a bit, cause the gas in too expensive.
indosnm 0
Furm, as fats said Gifu. If you are in my car its under 90mins away! Bus is cheap too and you can also go to Niigata & Nagano very easily too.
