Betelnut is up there with chewing tobacco: a disgusting habit.

If you're after a 'high', try drinking the high % alcohol beer up there - it's got a hit without being objectional. \:\)

At my parents house in Hawaii there are some trees that apparently have beetlenut in them so every month or so a car full of micronesians stop by, politely ask if they can climb our tree and then do so. They seem so happy with their find. So one year I had to ask them if I could try. What they did was crush the beetlenut, blend it with some cigarette tobacco, wrap it in ti leaf and place it between the cheek and gums. I got a major buzz from it but never tried it again.
