That means that there are effectively now two lifts operating at Suhara, a quad and a pair. This lift closure does not affect available terrain at the ski area. The ski area was closed last season, and will also be sitting out the 2023-2024 season. The ski area that was recently known as Montdeus Hidakuraiyama Snow Park has changed name to Takayama Shimin (which basically means that it is operated by Takayama City). The reason given is a lack of enough staff to open safely. Sunday 10th March 2024 is scheduled to be the last day of operation for the ski area. Just the Number 1 pair lift is scheduled to be moving. As of 17th December, details of lift ticket prices etc cannot be found. (No rush, guys!) Inawashiro Resort in Fukushima Prefecture has been closed since 2019, and it was unclear if the closure would be permanent. But there is good news! A company is taking control of the resort (ski area and hotel), and a possible re-opening of the ski area is on the cards in the coming years. Reasons given for the decision to close are the 'decline in the number of skiers and the effects of warmer winters'.
