dane 0
hi everyone. i need to get to hokkaido this winter for a few weeks, and am wondering the cheapest/fastest way to do that. i think time rules out everything except for a plane, but i don't know how cheap flights get (or rather, how less expensive). does anyone have ranges? once i get there i have a place to stay and transportation etc, so i just need a way there. thanks! dan
danz 0
you can buy a 1-way plane ticket to hokkaido for 10000yen....on ANA but there are restrictions on the dates... to get to hokkaido between 1/17 - 1/26, you have to buy the ticket between 11/17 - 11/26 (next week!) good luck... danz
danz 0
of course, that 10000 deal only makes sense if you are already in japan....seems you don't apply...sorry dude... danz

dane 0
ok, i found the best tradeoff between speed and price: the ferry. for 7000 yen, you can go from kyoto to hokkaido in just over 24 hours. not bad eh. the ferries run every day, and leave at 10 pm - and get there the next next day at 4:00 am. i imagine the trip will be pretty beautiful too. best of all it runs all year around, so you aren't restricted to this "10000" yen deal that all the domestic airlines have. i'm there! peace! talisker 0
assuming there are no delays which there often are up to twelve hours.....the trip sucks very boring but cheap
Higuma 0
Plus the ferry probably goes to Tomakomai or Hakodate necessitating more time / expense... And talisker is right - frequent Big delays and sometimes Honto Rolly Polly Seas....
