mrosema88 0
how far away is that from center city sapporo and how would we go about getting there? we have never been so...as much information as you can give would be great! i certainly don't want to go and board a shitty park the whole week. I'm not against checking out Teine for our first day, but don't want to stay their the whole trip.
mrosema88 0
whats the opinions on Niseko? the map looks fantastic and much better than Teine. easy to get to and how long? and about how much? you guys are getting me pumped for our trip!!!! i've been looking forward to this one for 2 years! Tubby Beaver 209
Are u only gonna be riding the park?? Seems a waste to me to come all this way and only stay in the park
mrosema88 0
I am not sure what you mean by staying in a park? I'm not sure of the other options?
MagSeven 40
I am not sure what you mean by staying in a park? I'm not sure of the other options? Is this the ultimate East Coast park rat? Or a simple misunderstanding?
MagSeven 40
By park, I thought you meant the terrain park. But maybe you're just using park to mean the whole ski area?
mrosema88 0
i'm sorry....yes the whole ski resort.....not just the terrain park....looks like niseko is the better option all around. and if i read correctly an 8 hour pass plus bus ticket was 4,900 yen...i thought this was a pretty good deal? http://www.niseko.ne.jp/en/otoku.html
Slippery Jim 65
If you want to hit Niseko, rebook a place to stay there. The bus trip from Sapporo is 2+ hours one-way. See the Places to Stay menu up top.
Tubby Beaver 209
Ah....you mean resort. Yeah if u are wanting to hit Niseko then staying over there is much better. You can take the bus but u waste valuable shredding time as DiGriz pointed out. If u want to stay in Sapporo, Kiroro and Kokusai are also very close....and Rusutsu is 90 mins to 2 hrs depending on road conditions by bus
Alexander L 80
If, for any reason, you are not inclined to do the nighta, then the day trip ticket is a real bargain. Get back into Sapporo for the superb restaurants and pubs. Then hit another resort the next day.
mrosema88 0
Winter Vacation: are you referring to niseko? We drove at least 2 hours to get to a resort back home so i think the distance is oki'm not sure i should be too concerned about the distance....especially if the bus runs at 7am...should be their around 9?
Tubby Beaver 209
The bus may leave your hotel at 7 but it probably will do pick ups at other hotels in the city so prob leave Sapporo about 8 and get there back of 10.....I'm just guessing tho as I don't have the bus schedule. It is doable.....as is Rusutsu, whic has awesome access to in bound trees and deep powder, with less crowds than Niseko. That's a tad closer, about 90 mins on good roads
Alexander L 80
The Niseko coach leaves Sapporo bus station at 7:55. The bus station is adjoined to the train station and JR Tower. Check out the time table from here. http://www.niseko.ne.jp/en/otoku.html
Tubby Beaver 209
It picks up at Sapporo hotels and doesn't get to hirafu until 11am......a waste of riding time IMO
Alexander L 80
You may be confusing the Chuo service with the Whiteliner service which picks up from 7am 'til 8:30 in Saporro. The Whiteliner goes to the hotels. But 3 hours to resort with 1 toilet break is a bit slow compared to car of course.
Tubby Beaver 209
I just looked at the link u posted
mrosema88 0
three hours to get to the resort by bus? blahhhhh this is becoming difficult lol! maybe i should consider renting a car at this rate.
Alexander L 80
Yeah, 2 hours 45 minutes of agonizing anticipation.
mrosema88 0
alright so now that i think i'm leaning more towards renting a car is navigation easy? We will be getting a GPS but since we don't know Japanese will we be alright with navigation and all that? I know all about the international drivers license and a car is looking to be about $450 for a week. how long would it be to the resorts by car?
Alexander L 80
A car opens up a whole world of options. Toyota rentacar as do many other makes have English GPS.
Alexander L 80
If you go to the Resorts section on the main site, select the resort you want to get to, for instance Niseko Grand Hirafu, go to the resort page, and select the Route Finder tab. Startng addrress as Sapporo It will give you approx times.
onehunga 26
Most Japanese Nav systems only need the phone number of where you are going. Put in the resort phone number and follow the directions. A nav system in English is good, but as far as I know only available from Toyota rentals.
Alexander L 80
Nissan has English GPS too. And of course they have the Skyline for 19,000 a day.
Slippery Jim 65
Traffic out of Sapporo in the morning can be . . . tiresome.
Tubby Beaver 209
The traffic lights at every bloody junction are tiresome.....especially on a bike
