snowdude 44
A few brief minutes Fuji made an appearance and there is fresh snow on the peak. Went to get my camera but by the time I went back outside it clouded over. Will try later if the clouds clear. So this snow is either extremely late or extremely early however you want to look at it. If precipitation falls again today it will fall as snow on Fujisan again. The snow from last season had not all melted yet either. And the climbing season is due to start in about a week. Yatsugatake also still has snow on it. Very unusual to get snow on Fujisan so close to July.
muikabochi 208
Very cool. Just caught a look at the peak of Mt Granview, no snow there I'm afriad.

NECK 14
Cool. So you think it's early or late?
snowdude 44
Dunno. Late snow maybe. If we get new snow on there again for example next month amd / or August then I would say it is very early and not a late season fall.
tokabochi 9
As we are on the spring side of summer still, surely late?
pie-eater 207
Good thing with Mount Fuji becoming World Heritage today. One more big success for Abenomics!
snowdude 44
Yes driving back from the onsen tonight there was a road sign saying congrats for Fujisan becomming world heritage today.
Tubby Beaver 209
Maybe they could rope the UN in to clean the bugger up
iiyamadude 6
Sure got a lot of rain until yesterday here. Was rather cool too.
iiyamadude 6
Maybe they could rope the UN in to clean the bugger up I heard they were thinking of introducing a charge to help clean it up. 1000 yen per person. Good idea I reckon.
Tubby Beaver 209
as long as it doesn't find its way into a local Oyaji's pocket.
snowdude 44
Yes that is correct the 1000 yen charge. They are also going to stop people doong night climbing from next year. My daughter and I are planning to climb it this year and put up a world heritage flag at the summit. All depends if we can find the time though.
Thundercat 60
Stop the night climb? Are you sure about that? The majority of people who climb want to get up there to see the sunrise... How could they possibly enforce that anyway?
Dunga 1
How long does it take to climb it?
Tubby Beaver 209
Depends what route u take. Most people climb the easier routes and it takes 4-5hrs one way. There's a longer route that takes about 8hrs from the 5th station
snowdude 44
I climbed the longer route in 6 hours it real/y doesnt take long. As for them stopping night climbing yes it was in the news. It is because there have been many injuries at night with people falling breaking legs twisting ankles etc so they want to stop this.
Tubby Beaver 209
I climbed the long route and it took near 9 hrs
seemore 66
Cool. So you think it's early or late? Since the Summer Solstice was on the 21st of June then it's early snow as effectively it is getting darker and heading to winter

SKI 15
On the other hand, other than the very peak times, you can book most places the week before. Let's reality!
pie-eater 207
The magical magic of Abenomics means that the yen will continue to weaken in the run up to winter. So waiting is better anyway. Hurray for Abenomics. It's Abetastic!
