This thread is for those few pics that you take on the odd trip that really doesn't require the making of a whole thread. I cycled along the coast to Hayama in Kanagawa prefecture. It was a beautiful day in Shonan and I thought I'd get out on the bike and get some exercise. I took a couple of snaps along the way just with my iPhone and thought I'd share them here. Not as nice as Muika's, but this coastline is a beautiful part of Japan and on days like this it makes me question whether I truly would like to move to the snow zone or not.

Lets sharing......

Hayama is where the Emperor has a 2nd home, its a really cool little town by the beach. These rocks are cool for snorkelling in and just to the right of the small lighthouse is a Torii gate standing in the sea....my phone cam didn't pick it up too well but its a nice scene.

and then when I got back to Enoshima, Mt Fuji was in its last throes of sunset....

My missus does hula, so I've got gazillions of photos of it. No kids groups round here though, which is a shame. Hiphop is the big thing in these parts. My daughter does a more frilly girly thing.

Do you ever give the ladies some accompaniment on your guitar?

I'll post a snap of the view from our bathtub this week.

The pens look lovely. For lenses, the Tamron 90mm 2.8 is supposed to be pretty good and is very reasonable. I saw it once in a s/h bundle and was tempted, but I realized that I'd have to stand about 15 feet back to use it as a portrait lens on dx.

Funny you should mention the Tamron macro Mr. Wiggles.....that's the exact one I have my wife on a Rakuten hunt for right now.

Yes, my wife and daughter are into hula big time. I love watching the younger ladies (20's) group as they have some really good looking members who can really move their hips.... ;) And yes, they keep bugging me to sing and play some hula tunes for them as the three member band they have now playing have got to be in their 80's and are really, really bad. Even my daughter comments on how much they suck....haha.

Thanks! That tree cost a princely five thousand yen. A bird called a mejiro (Japanese white eye) nested in the top right corner this summer. The chicks left the nest about twelve days after hatching from quail-egg sized eggs. It was amazing to see.

As for Chris, your photos look great already. They don't look very easy to take because you've got a black and reflective stone barrel with loads of shadow detail right next to very shiny gold parts. That must be tricky to light and to expose. If you want more detail on the pen barrel and you don't already, maybe put on an "I shoot RAW" t-shirt and hit the shadow/highlight sliders in Lightroom or the like.

80s hair band to ukelele for ladies dancing hula, that's some musical journey!

Not sure if these qualify as "Nice Photos" as they are only taken with my phone camera but thought I would share anyway.  My girlfriend wanted to go hiking one last time before all my spare time is dedicated to winter sports, so we decided to spend the last Sunday of November hiking and viewing some of the magical Autumnal colours the mountains of Japan provide. The hike started out bad with us sleeping through our alarm and leaving the house about 2 hours later than we had planned. Since time was kind of short I decided to head to Dainichigatake as its a mountain I have always wanted to hike but never got around to. We ended up leaving home around 8 am and the drive to the mountain base took about 2.5hrs. To my complete surprise (and probably lack of preparation) we arrived to find the mountain was covered with snow at the top. Since we were short of time we headed straight up through Dynaland then cut over to Takasu SP. The top of the ski-jos had some snow and at this point I was kicking myself that I didn’t check the weather earlier and bring my board along for the hike. At the top of Takasu SP there was a very nice base of about 40-50cm, at some points even deeper. After playing around in the snow and getting cold we continued up to the peak of the mountain which turned out to be a lot harder than I had expected thanks to walking in knee deep snow without any appropriate snow trekking gear. In the end we made it up to the top, took a few pictures then raced back down to the comfort of a nearby onsen and attempted get our body temperature back to normal. The weather was perfect for hiking, and it turned out to be a mostly enjoyable day.
