muikabochi 208
Today it was back over to Gunma. It has been a hazy kind of sunny and bright day. Felt good, but not the best of contrasts. Excuses out of the way, the Ichinokura-sawa side of Tanigawadake was looking as impressive as always. Still quite a lot of snow piled up there at the base. I really need to get up early one fine morning to go here and get the sun shining on those rocks rather than during midday. The nearby Doai station. Famous for it's nearly 500 steps down to the underground platform. Better to leave than arrive at this station! Not enough light for a tight focus but you get the drift! Continued to get duller, but on to a place I really like - still in Minakami - the craft village of Takuminosato. If you have been to Naeba from the Tsukiyono IC of the Kanetsu Expressway, you have passed this place. Apart from some craft shops dotted around, there's a few old temples. Totally quiet, no-one else around when we were here. This dude has a good wish! Will be back on a clearer, blue sky day as there is lots of lovely scenery and interesting things going on. hellyer 216
The only bit I can understand is a few numbers and JR What does it say?
SKI 15
Love the background out of focus kind of thing you have going on in some recently, muika. Sure wouldn't want to have to use that train station every day!
Metabo Oyaji 71
The only bit I can understand is a few numbers and JR What does it say? Roughly: "Well done, you must be exhausted. (That was 462 steps) 143 meters more to the exit gate, including two more staircases with 24 steps. Gambatte kudasai. JR Doai Station"

HoTRoD 2
How do you actually get to that mountain view you have up there muikabochi? Is it close to the ropeway base?
muikabochi 208
Yes it's just past the ropeway base, on the same road. The road past the ropeway closed and blocked off in winter, so can't be seen. A few km of winding narrow road. A real nightmare when it's really busy, wasn't bad on Saturday. mina2 6
Nice pics. Minakami covers a big area hey? And that road beyond the ropeway can indeed be awful on busy days. I would highly recommend not going on a popular weekend in autumn - might be evening before you can get out of there!
muikabochi 208
Yes big town area, no doubt helped along by some gappei. We went in autumn once, weekday. It took ages to get in and out of there and it was still relatively quiet. I can imagine that road getting seriously blocked in a bad way.
