muikabochi 208
Another fine day here, perhaps not as clear as it had been earlier in the week but the sun was out. We had a bit of a drive into Yuzawa. First up was Daigenta Canyon. After seeing something strange going on in a field on the way... http://www.snowjapanforums.com/index.php/topic/21829-something-strange-going-on-in-a-field-in-yuzawa-today/ And then on to a lovely temple, Kankouji, in Ishiuchi. Between Ishiuchi Maruyama and the mega-resort Ishiuchi Hanaoka actually, so right there in Paradise Alley. Small but lovely place. Time for more temple shots!
hellyer 216
Thanks Muika - awesome shots
muikabochi 208
I just love walking round the temples, taking it all in and and taking pics ( if you couldn't work that out yet ). So picturesque and so many great angles etc. And the trees.... oh the trees!
Karnidge 2
I love enjoying time around temples and gardens as well. They can be so pretty.
Tubby Beaver 209
are there a lot of swimming spots on the rivers around your area, Muika?
muikabochi 208
Hmm. None that I know of or can think of, actually.
grungy-gonads 54
Hey muika, is that top shot 'stitched together'? It doesn't look it, but it is rather wide.
NoFakie 45
Very nice. In the "temple shots", you can just about make out the temple in one of them! From the leaves, that looks like some kind of kohauchiwa maple. For a Japanese maple, its got very light silver bark. Its also very very big!
muikabochi 208
Thanks. While I do quite like trees, I don't know their names. Gg, it's one photo with a very wide lens, I just cropped some bits off the top and bottom.
best skier in hakuba 5
I like that 'fukuzatsu' kind of scenery that you obviously do muika. Like the second photo. So many beautiful places.
NoFakie 45
This is a great book for learning to spot trees in Japan. I originally found it in the local library. Its full of life size photos of leaves and is really well indexed so you can usually find the right one pretty quick. http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E5%8E%9F%E5%AF%B8%E5%9B%B3%E9%91%91-%E8%91%89%E3%81%A3%E3%81%B1%E3%81%A7%E3%81%8A%E3%81%BC%E3%81%88%E3%82%8B%E6%A8%B9%E6%9C%A8-%E6%BF%B1%E9%87%8E-%E5%91%A8%E6%B3%B0/dp/4760127801/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338180497&sr=8-1 We've got a garden and put some trees in, so that bumped up my interest in them. Hopefully we'll get to put some more in this year.
