From Gunma to Nagano by car

Hey dudes and dudettes

 

Just a few tentative plans being made for next year and wondering - best ways to get from, say, Minakami area of Gunma, to places in Nagano?

Any top tips?

Hiya

 

You will most likely be best going up through the tunnel on the Kanetsu expressway, through Yuzawa and over into Nagano from Ishiuchi through Tsunan (Route 353), then past Nozawa and beyond. Surely the best if you are going to Nozawa, Madarao, Myoko (Niigata), and Shiga Kogen.

Nice drive too. And cheaper for expressways.

The alternative would be to go south on the Kanetsu expressway, then onto the Joshinetsu Expressway, past Karuizawa and do it that way.

Might be good for somewhere like Sugadaira and even Hakuba (??)

Long way round though if you are going to places in northern Nagano.

Yes I like in Muikamachi which is just to the north of Yuzawa.

I think if central and south area then going south via Karuizawa is probably better.
