Go Native 70
Average depth on the upper mountain in Hirafu at the end of Dec is 2m. By mid Jan it's up around 2.5m. Average max depth of the season is usually reached around mid March and is up near 3.7m. I'm tipping it will snow more in the couple of weeks you're here than you've ever seen in your life before. Not unusual for us to receive near 5m of snowfall just in Jan.

Go Native 70
One of things about the snow here is that it is so incredibly light and fluffy that even a big fall of say 40cm can compact down to only a few cm's. Hence although we get incredible amounts of snowfall this doesn't transform into ridiculous snow depths. Last season for instance we had up around 15m fall at the base of the mountain but the snow depth never got above 3m in the village. This differs significantly to say snow in Aus and NZ which is nowhere near as light or dry and a fall of snow won't pack down anywhere near as much.
