Zaoman 0
Hey I was just driving before and saw this dude riding his bike way above the speed limit of the road and then he went through red lights. Got me wondering, presume that they have to abide by the road rules, anyone ever hear of a cyclist being done for speeding or going through a red?
Yuki's Passion 1
Zao, when I was training for tri's in Hawaii we were going down the Queen K towards Haleiva and the group I was with, including me, were all pulled over and fined for speeding We all thought it was funny as shit, but the cop didnt see the humor in it. Having said that, I have had several good friends, who have been hit by reckless drivers; so, we, never run red lights, weave in and out of traffic, ride on the opposite side of the road, nor do we ever ride 2 abroad, always streamline so that we dont cause cars to be forced more than necessary to go around us. Cyclists here are very irresponsible and they really piss me off, but I think its the same mentality as motorcyclists here: basically there are no rules. If cyclists want respect from drivers, they have to earn it, and that goes by abiding by the same rules. This convo has been done before
pie-eater 207
So did we decide if cyclists can be done for speeding or not?
bobby12 0
My understanding is cyclist can do anything they want. In addition, if they get hit it is basically 100% the cars fault. [disclaimer: don't quote me in a court of law]
Yuki's Passion 1
Not in the US you cant; I dont know about Japan though. In the States they have to abide by the same cars as theyre considered moving vehicles - the same as cars.
Tubby Beaver 209
I've often wondered about that here as well. i abide by the laws of the road and it maddens me to see a numpty salaryman come cycling in the opposite direction on MY side of the road, against the flow of traffc......where does he expect me to go?? I have traffic on my right side, the kerb on my left.......GET ON THE PROPER SIDE OF THE ROAD YOU NONCE!!!!
muikabochi 208
I often go for bike rides in the evenings around where I live. Lots of country roads and often don't come across many cars, but I try to keep out of the way! Once a car really cut a corner and nearly knocked me off. Don't want to find out if it's always officially his fault though. Wondered about the traffic lights and speeding myself, though on the routes I do I don't come across any traffic lights. thursday 1
I avoid cyclists like the plague. I pull out wide so they can't even think about scratching my paintwork.
pie-eater 207
3 cyclists side by side on a narrow road. Does my head in.

Zer0star 0
i got pulled over by the cops on my bike at around 2 in the morning after a karaoke nomihoudai.. they said i smelled like grog and took a look in the plastic bag in my basket. i had just been to the combini and bought a bento and a porno. the cop saw the porno and laughed, told me to put my light on and take care. if they were in a bad mood they could've booked me for drink driving. drinking and riding is the same as drink driving here. blinkin'ek 0
Interesting that they were not as strict as if they perhaps found you drunk driving in a car.
