danielt 0
hi I'm going to Shiga Kogen in February 2010 (19th to 27th). I'm wondering where to stay as it's such a big resort. I'll be travelling from Tokyo. Also, will there be much sunshine around this time of the season? I went to Hakuba this year in mid-January and out of 11 days there were only 2 with blue sky days! iiyamadude 6
Are you a skier or snowboader? The central and most lively (relative!) is the Ichinose are. From there you can easily get to most places quite easy. The other part is Kumanoyu but that's only really good for skiers. Wherever you stay though you can easy get around either by riding on the snow or the shuttle bus that buzzes around. http://www.snowjapan.com/e/japan-ski-town-maps/shiga-kogen/shiga-kogen.html
Tubby Beaver 209
In Japan, in my experience, the blue bird days are quite rare. Thats why we get so much soft, fluffy snow.
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted May 13, 2009 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted May 13, 2009 Hi danielt and welcome You may already know this but if you look at our daily reports from Shiga Kogen you'll be able to see how things were day-by-day over the past 7 seasons. http://www.snowjapan.com/e/daily/shiga-kogen-now.php Hope that helps. danielt 0
Thanks for the replies. I'll be skiing. Thanks moderator - I used the snow reports quite closely this year when I went to Hakuba.
girl with a beard 0
If you are a skier, the Okushiga/Yakebitaiyama areas and also the other end Yokoteyama/Kumanoyu are good too. Ichinose is the most 'central' though.
