grungy-gonads 54
Hi skistarved and welcome. This question gets asked almost every week. The best thing is to do a search on these forums and you will see the similar threads and the answers that were given. Also check those links at the top of the page to get an idea of things. Tubby Beaver 209
There are literally hundreds of places to choose from that can be done over a weekend. Get a map and throw a dart, then start there!!
SamuiKitsune 0
If you are in Tokyo you could easily get to Gala, Yuzawa, Naeba, Kagura. Probably even Myoko.
iiyamadude 6
If you're considering Myoko, then places like Nozawa and Shiga Kogen are about the same.
davidmarriott 0
Gala, Yuzawa, Naeba, Kagura. Probably even Myoko... Are these resorts where you can ski all day and then hit it Saturday night at the bars? Also, can you recommend a shop/area in Tokyo to buy all clothes and equipment? Or on this site? Thanks. fukdane 2
"head up Friday night returning Sunday" That's 2 nights - so you can include much more than just the Yuzawa area (lots of people do that for day trips). Myoko, Nozawa, Shiga Kogen, Hakuba... tons of places that are within 3 hours of Tokyo.
davidmarriott 0
exactly, head up friday night back sunday. seems hakuba is pretty icey at the moment with all this wind.
fukdane 2
With a few days I'd personally head out to Nozawa or Shiga Kogen...... (If "nightlife" is important to you, Nozawa beats Shiga Kogen)
davidmarriott 0
hey fukdane, thanks for your note....where would you recommend for a fri-sun weekend trip with good snow, variety of runs and some bars open sat night to have a few beers?
davidmarriott 0
thanks. "nightlife"...at least something to do rather than being stuck inside...see previous message...lost in between sends
davidmarriott 0
fukdane, if you can bear with me...rent vs buy depends on how often you go of course...how much would you think it costs to get kitted up...i hear kanda in tokyo has a large area of ski related shops...possibly soem decent prices there...?
