We have been experiencing some server issues today due to a very heavy (unexpected) increase in traffic. There are 3 of us working here trying to solve the issues we are faced with. Turning the chat box off is one of the things we are doing to help reduce load on the server as we try to work out & understand what is happening. Extremely sorry, but solving the problems that we are facing whilst keeping the site online is our primary concern. Link to post Share on other sites

In fact we have taken the opportunity to make a few adjustments that optimize the database server, so things should be improved. Over the last 24 hours there has been over three times the amount of normal traffic to the site/forums - as far as we can currently tell this is only partly due to a few overseas promotional things we have been doing. We're still looking into other reasons for the rather unexpectedly high traffic today which put a large load on the server. Thanks and sorry for the disruption today. But even so there was an unusually large increase today, and even though we don't quite know the full story yet, happily it doesn't seem to be traffic of the unwanted kind (ie. an attack!)
