bobby12 0
I want to replace my basic wordtank (IDF-2100) with one that has more example sentences, bigger screen and a bigger ei-wa dictionary. As I reach upper 2-kyu I find my compact one lacking at times. Has anyone here bought a wordtank lately?
Yuki's Passion 1
sorry, Im a casio fan but would like to see what others offer - want to get a compact one myself that will fit in a shirt pocket.
bobby12 0
Maybe we can do a deal on mine when I get my new one. Always heard that Canon Wordtank is 'the one' for study of Japanese as it has a few features the others dont have that are great for non-natives.
Snow-Woman 0
I have the Canon G50. Got it a year ago and really like it, does the job for me. Got the eigo manual as well which was a bit help in the beginning.
pie-eater 207
Thats the one I got as well. Nice machine, though it took me a while to get used to it - worth the time investment though.
kkk 7
Are those things made for Japanese learning English or the other way round (or both)? And easy to use if you can't enter stuff in Japanese?
Yuki's Passion 1
Id be interested to know what those features are Bobby. Could you give a few exs for us preeze? Im gonna check out the denkiya san this weekend and have a look. I know what I like about Casio (and Bushy the new Casio I got is the XD-WP6800) which is why Ive stuck with it. thursday 1
is it dark and hairy on the outside and wet on the inside? Coconut?
bobby12 0
I cant remember exactly but I think the extra features are this: * 'Jump' function - highlight any word in the example/definition text and jump to a definition of that word * 'History' function - see what words you looked up recently (serves as a revision tool) Does your Casio have that?
Yuki's Passion 1
yup, it has a superjump which allows you to jump from any word/kanji to any dictionary within the dictionary as well. Love it!!
Yuki's Passion 1
history as well, stores a few pages worth of words
bushpig 0
yeah that superjump is a decent bit better than the older jump function on my casio. So not much that is better on the cannon then?
bobby12 0
Seems not, will look at that Casio one.
TheOrange 0
I chose the Canon one when I was comparing them. That jump is really good.
SirJibAlot 0
I have the V80. Not only does it have Japanese, it has Chinese as well (that's useful in Kabukicho). You can also draw the kanji if you have now clue what it is and it will give you J and E explainations. Now, if only I could speak Japanese....
