yodel 0
From the Hakuba Now page!..... "Though not directly related to the snow, it has been announced that Hakuba is to merge with neighbouring Otari". Wow, wonder what that means for the resorts. Has this been brewing for a while now or fairly sudden?
Fattwins 0
Resorts? maybe another version of the super/happy 7 passes. Basically this will mean a smaller government hopefully better services ie shared road cleaning and stuff.
Octavio Estrada 0
Wouldn't Otari be happier to merge with Hakuba than the other way round?
Fattwins 0
They are so close there is not much differnce now is there. Hopefully the taxes will be better spent now that is the main point I think.

Mr.Smith 0
I bet some of the resorts in Otari are happy with that. Will Hakuba become a 'city'?
emptyworld 0
Surely not. I am asking what the hell a city in Japan is anyway here http://www.skijapanguide.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=8&t=002271 There seem to be lots of really tiny 'cities' in Japan that certainly wouldn't be a city back home. I'm curious as to what makes them a city.
