Thunderpants 0
Mr Wiggles. I can't claim that i am a Coltrane expert, nor do i throw his name to get credit. I enjoy most of his stuff, His solo in "bye bye blackbird" (Miles Davis 'Round about midnight) is just fantastic, a masterpiece! But if i have to name my favorite album it would be "A Love Supreme" I last winter i tried my luck with "Interstellar Space" but that is a difficult one... BTW i have been meaning to thank you for introducing Bootsie Collins to me.. Thank You:)
NoFakie 45
Thunder I'm no expert on Coltrane, and I'm not all that big on freeform music either. Funk, for example, is all about getting in the groove and pushing it as far as it will go. There's a lot of structure. The "posers like to drop Coltrane's name" is just a personal impression. It doesn't mean there aren't lots of genuine fans of his work, early period or late period. Los Van Van play Tokyo on August 10. It's not cheap to get in, but there will be sixteen or so of them on stage. They're doing dates all over Japan. http://www.sirenamusic.com/homee.html

slow 0
I went to see Sergio Mendes at Bluenote Tokyo last night. I remember that my dad used to play his music very loud downstairs on weekends when I was a kid. It was fun!
