  1. Back home and back to reality! I'll post some more (possibly highly controverial*) thoughts soon. * things like... I liked Place A, I didn't really like Place B as much.
  2. Well my time here in Japan has seemed very short, I really don't want to go back home. Way too fast. But I have to, tomorrow morning.
  3. Yes in Kyoto now, going back home tomorrow morning so last day now. Will report more when I get back.
  4. OK time to move on! I loved Shiga Kogen, much prefer it to Hakuba. I think photos and more will have to wait until I get back home next week, want to make the most of my time here.
  5. Went to see them yesterday they were so cool. I really enjoyed it there. Your photos are astonishing muikabochi. I have some snaps but there's no point in posting them with what you have put here. I'll put a few in my Shiga Kogen report though. Brilliant.
  6. Haha. It lived up to them for sure. What a fantastic day today has been. I think my face might be bright red come tonight. Time for an onsen. I'll report more sometime when I can.
  7. Really enjoying Shiga Kogen! And this morning the sun is out and it looks like it will be a beautiful day. Can't wait to get out there! I will report more later.

  9. Ah, so I'm an idiot now?! That's nice. If you look at my original post, I was hardly having a great big moan about things. I simply said I was having fun but I was a bit disappointed in that aspect. That is all! It has now become this huge argument between people who seem very highly strung up about it all. 10. You can dish it up however you want. OK OK. Here is what I experienced and saw, with my very own eyes (and this is just in response to your % theme) - bars that were literally 100% non-Japanese, probably 75% of them male; - people walking round Echoland / Wadanomori, I would say easily 80%+ non-Japanese. And I did find a few places that were not overrun by non-Japanese, the accommodation owner told me about them so I don't see that "would probably be full of nobody" either. They were fun and lively, not empty.
  11. I 'started it'?! I suppose the I'm just not allowed to say that I'm disappointed. How sad that is. Oh well, I'm off to Shiga Kogen next and really looking forward to it.

Well I would actually have a clue, not that it really matters. It's funny, the atmosphere of this thread is like the one in the bar the other night in Hakuba. Haha. I quickly got out of that too.
  13. Wow amazing muikabochi. I can't believe you took them when I was there! I haven't seen much of those backdrop mountains at all while I have been here unfortunately.
  14. Tex quoted me too, and I wasn't implying that at all either! I have had a lot of fun in Hakuba, but going to a bar that is 100% gaijin, I could be anywhere in the world. It wasn't what I was expecting and like I said quite disappointing really. The Japanese owner of the place told me about a few places and I enjoyed visiting them and felt more like I was in Japan. There were still foreigners there, but some Japanese too haha. Phew! It will be interesting to see how Shiga Kogen compares.

  16. Good day today at 47/Goryu. I took some snaps so I will upload sometime in the next few days. But.... is this actually Japan?! Wouldn't think it with pretty much everyone walking around being a foreigner. Not so much on the slopes, but the place I was at this evening for a meal there wasn't a Japanese person there, just hordes of foreign males! Must say, disappointed in that aspect.
  17. Snowiung quite heavily in Hakuba. Where's the mountains?!
  18. OK so I arrived in Hakuba yesterday, this seems to have been 'planning' for years! But so glad to get here at last. I can't see much because it is snowing but hoping to have some great days here before I make my way down to the Kyoto area early next week. Do I win a prize for the "longest planning"?
  19. I don't usually like games much but that Donkey Kong one is a lot of fun, I highly recommend it.
