NISEKO 2010
foreversnow replied to foreversnow's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Thanks GN . I must admit I like going through the travel agent as they take care of everything transfers, passes, accom etc. Plus hopefully I am keeping someone in work. Will start getting quotes today. -
Excellent hangover food. Similar to a giant spring roll but with thicker pastry. The only things I could identify in them was carrot, barley and cabbage. VERY YUMMY!!

foreversnow replied to yoroshiku onegai shimasu's topic in General off-topic discussions
You know the really gross thing is I was told all those tinned meats and luncheon rolls etc are all the left overs mixed together that are turned into liquid form and are piped into the containers as a liquid like jelly and then it sets in the container. MMMMMMMMM YUMMMMMYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Heres an idea - probably a stupid one but what about if you got rid of the bars in Niseko. Lets get rid of Paddy's and put Big Cliff back there. If you want to get a pissed as a monkey do it but in your apartment. -

I really thought it was going to be quiet over there next season with the poor economy, winter olympics and poor exchange BUT I don't think it is going any of those things seem to be going to effect Niseko 2010. We look like having to book later in February as Chinese New Year is later next year. Hopefully 4 weeks next year. -
Good Reading BUT NOW you have really let all the secrets of Niseko out. I think Niseko is over priced, full of Aussies, Skiing is not great, Snowfall is unreliable, can't get around in the village as it is on a icy hilly road and you fall over all the time. Food is not great and expensive, really hard to get to from Australia, not safe with fighting drunken aussies everywhere. I think EVERYONE should go to Hakuba or maybe Furano.

Down to the Top 13. Is Paula Abdul constantly OFF HER FACE. Everytime we have watched it she looks like she is either drunk or on some occassions is totally spazed.

Tinned meat

EEWW EEWW EEWW EEWW EEWW this thread is JUST WRONG!!! Although Mr Snowhunter likes those little sausages you get in a tin. He pan fries them and puts them in his macaroni cheese. I don't even feed my dogs tinned food - they get fresh cooked food (spoilt yeah I know but they are my kids). What about braised steak and tinned ham!! -
Perhaps you should be watching Miss Naked on Cable.
-
EWWWW!!!! That is just wrong on so many levels. Thursday I am disappointed in you I thought you were a 10 pints and kebab man!!
-
EWWWWWWWWW!!!!!! Do people still eat spam??? REVOLTING. Maybe we should start a Thread NOT Cho-Yummy Things??

This is just saddening that it has come to having Niseko with a holding cell and extra police. I remember one of the things I loved was telling everyone that there were no police in Niseko as it was so safe. It is so sad that these Aussie individuals act like 18 yr olds that have never been away from home and never had alcohol. I get a big enough high when in Niseko from the snow and the skiing. Maybe they need to ski a little harder during the day because I can tell you every night our group, that ranged from 24yrs up to 40 yr olds, got home we would all have a couple of beers and cr -

Oh my gosh Annupuri is like a friggin highway even a useless skier like myself can dodge a stationery person. I did have a BIG crash on Hirafu Slope. Got hit full speed by a tiny Japanese Snowboarder (female) she was very sorry and embarrased. I have injuried my shoulder and hand but was more concerned that she was okay as she was so tiny and we really hit. Would have been a great view for people on the chairlift. Mr Snowhunter was very impressed (hopefully after a little concern) as he said we collided and then both hit the deck and spun doing about 4 starfish turns on the snow.! -

Thanks for the heads up GN. We will start looking around in the next month or so. It easy to dodge most of the Aussie Idiots over there just don't go to Wild Bill's etc and stick to all the local joints. I must admit I saw some VERY RUDE OBNOXIOUS Aussies over there I hope it doesn't become to much like Bali or Thailand. -
Do you just love how it slides off your fork and then sticks to the roof of your mouth and slowly melts down your throat SUBLIME!!!!!!!!!!!

Sapporo Great Snow Festival
foreversnow replied to thursday's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Okay I may be shunted of this topic BUT while I really enjoyed the snow festival is it something that you would travel wholly and soley to see???? Were there less sculptures there this year due to the hard times?? For us it was good as we were coming to Japan anyway. The sculptures during the day were good but yes I agree that at night the lights really added something to them. Mr Snowhunter was very funny he liked the white clean ones but would even stop and look at the ones that were slightly dirty or melted. Thursday - I actually got a kebab from there - Don't know -
Okay here are a few things I discovered on my last trip. Camembert Cheesecake Mochi - Especially those strawberry filled ones Smirnoff Old Spice Rice in a bag (from lawsons and part of a staple diet on a budget ) Cakes from the Cake Shop in Kutchan Udon Noodles with Tempura Prawns YUMMY!!!!!!

Well before we left for our 2009 trip we were convinced that we would have to give 2010 a miss due to the bleak outlook. On arriving home the saving has started, we may not be able to book as early as we did last year but hey you can't take your money with you and Japan is to good to miss out on. Back to reality now, Doom and Gloom, same old grocery shopping trips, slotted back into the daily routines with much depression, Dealing with the idiots everyday. Only 300 days till I am there again.
