I'm guessing he means Sun Meadows Kiyosato? http://www.snowjapan.com/e/resorts/resortdetail.php?resid=200 -
So is the outback, yet people still live there. If you are going to use a loft for a living space, then they need a permanent staircase, and not a ladder.

Always go for land first, then decide on the house. Think of the land as the investment, something that will go up, or down, in value then base the house on that.
-
The land space is about 100m2 or so and our house is about 150m2 in total living space, which is two floors and a loft space, and it took about 6/7months from initial building until we moved in, Aug '11. I'll have to double check on those measurements when I get home tonight though, and may update this post to show that. We were able to change things right until they started putting the pipes in. We're still very happy with it, I just wish we had MORE power sockets.

Wait till you get the pack of information once the house is complete. Talk about in depth. Ours is about 10cms with ALL the certificates of jobs done, photos of the building etc....

I thought Burton had a lifetime guarantee on bindings, or is it just on the base plate? -
And devices, such as cordless phones and microwaves, can also adversely affect the wifi signal too.

Definitely something just went off as our school was shaking. -
Well it depends on many computers or devices you have that you want wired. Wireless is fine for surfing the web, but I prefer wired for gaming. Moreover, sometimes people move their router boxes around the house, and having more than one socket gives you the choice to move it.

Remember to get as many plug sockets installed as you can. And fit some of them with internet connections as well.
