  1. Sorry Mantas. Once is a typo, twice required correction. It kept making me think of bourbon!
  2. ya think the asylum seekers in Australia all arrive being able to speak English, or EVER become fluent? Some do. Some don't. And yes, they require the services of interpreters for some many things - doctor visits, social security appointments... same questions are asked here. Papabear was on a flight back from Christmas Island last year with a few Asylum seekers who were being 'settled'. He got chatting to them (obviously THEY spoke English), they had been at Christmas Island in detention for two years, and were now being settled in metropolitan WA. They had suitcases, clothes and cas
  3. Not sure I agree with you Mantas. While dealing with Asylum seekers is an International problem, resettling them in Japan is a fairly silly idea given current population levels in such a small land mass. Perhaps if your issue with them is a lack of a contribution to a solution they could 'contribute' in other ways (if they don't already). I'd seek asylum in Japan. As long as they let me settle in a ski resort
  4. Troy? The man is actually very intelligent, OUTSTANDING in parliament - never seen anyone quicker with total recall of pertinent data. But he is flawed. He's a very very naughty man. Brilliant politician, shocking husband. Funnily enough he was on holiday in Niseko when he had to race back to Aus over that saga. His offspring were in the same snowboard class as the cubs.
  5. ...and if there has been a period of protracted illness and knowledge that it was terminal for a while, much of the grieving and adjustment cam be done prior to death, especially if the now deceased partner was calm, centered and gave the living partner permission and their blessing to find happiness when they were gone.
  6. ...and in the Old Blighty according to Tubby A shared pain indeed!
  7. I am just amazed at how they can be so passionate as to attend a rally, or run for public office, over something they have zero understanding of! Beggars belief, that!
  8. Makes me sick just watching. There are always stories about 'red backs on the toilet seat' in Australia (probably mostly in outdoor loos) but I've never seen one yet. If there were big spiders like that in toilets I needed to use I'd stop eating or drinking!
  9. Did you read Thursdays degustation? If he can shove that down in an hour I'll be mightily impressed! But yes, I take your point.
  10. I LOVE skiers like you Thursday I can rely on you for a sweet lull in piste traffic between 11.30 and 2.30 .... Divine! Meanwhile, a decent breakfast and I can make I through to dinner with just some jerky and a bottle of water
  11. Smells hang about! Drives me bonkers. Kids leave stinky shoes in the car and damp towels (training at the pool every day), and now my car is all musty and boy smelling. But the worst is the up and go containers - MILK (well soy crap) Def gonna book it in for a full detail. There are few stenches worse than milk. Cheese in a ski jacket pocket months later might get there.... But that once was milk also...
  12. I'll go one better than tokabochi's twice... Clean it well, then take it in to be professionally cleaned!
  13. Got any other hills covered in snow I should check out? It's all about keeping the DTs at bay while waiting for the end of the year
  14. Two domes. Sealed together like a kinder surprise. Only the contents are not such a nice surprise...
  15. Probably was horrified by the unclean gaijin! No wonder they smell!
  16. ...so we're they actually stolen or was it a mistaken hire return? We have and that happen with a hired snowboard before - the person took the wrong board, thankfully it was hired from the same place.
  17. What about Lavatory or Latrine... They are more appropriate than toilet which came from toilette, which has more to do with bathing and dressing than relieving ones self.
  18. Just read up on catechins. Interesting stuff. Green tea/oolong tea have a fair percentage.
