as posted in the "first snow on Yotei" thread, I have noticed a few people using a slightly different scale for measuring snow depth. (MikePow etc..) Based on this I have prepared a little chart outlining a proposed snow depth measurement scale.... Without further ado, I present to you the Biometric Snow Depth Measurement system. It does need some modification, such as the inclusion of a height reference for the fool in the photo, but you get the drift... apologies in advance for the double post, but I thought this would get a bit more mileage in a more rel -

Cool SJ. Thanks for that. Greatly appreciated. I know it seems silly, but as we get closer to getting on the plane to come on over, my mood and the general well being of my day can be largely effected by the snow depth reporting.... To that effect, it has taken me two coffees and a snowboard film to get my day back on track after the reports were downgraded from 218cm to 130cm overnight. -

I am a lot less concerned now after watching the web cams for the last month, although I am still trying to make head or tail of the snow depth reporting as being discussed in the other thread. in terms of snow depth reporting, I must admit I do identi

out of interest - on the Now! report - does: Temperature Bottom & Temperature Top refer to the temp at the bottom and top of the mountain? or does it refer to the minimum and maximum temperature for the day? -
mmm interesting topic. we were wondering about this for Onsen's around Niseko. my gf has a tattoo on her shoulder which is the Chinese character for year of the dragon. I have had a japanese friend mention that this is particularly not-cool for going into an Onsen. They did suggest putting a plaster bandage over the tatt. Does anyone have any experience with this? - and yes, she is evil..... but that is part of why I love her.

feeling better about the fact that we got all mountain included in the package. nice. bummer to hear that the 100 yen ramen place is no more. we have had about 20 people tell us that we have to go there. -

I think I was being too lazy to be bothered doing the politically correct "ski/snowboard/toboggan/other snow/non-snow related activities".... It is also good to stir the skiers every now and then! apparently heading through Kansai airport yesterday was pretty quick with minimal fuss. Now I just have to try and get info on what the bottle neck is like at Narita. When we come through Narita, we only have 1hr55m to get to our connecting plane to Sapporo. if the initial reports of a 1hr30m delay are still holding true, then we may be cutting it a bit too close.

killer. definitely post some vids when you get a sec, as I am rather keen to check it out. i had been wondering if anyone had been having a bash at binding-less snowboarding. I had started to see a few of the snowskate jobbies at Mt Buller during the season just finished and they were pretty cool. nice.
