  1. bump bump... I read someone liked the formula for figuring out a slope in degrees but I didn't see the formula anywhere in the thread. Hmmm Skimming too much? With data from just about any topo map (including Google Earth!): You can get the altitude at any two points of interest and the distance between them. From there it's easy to figure out the Slope, the Grade, and the Angle (from level). Let's draw it out to make it simple. Make a right triangle where the two altitudes "points" (A and C) form the hypotenuse and the distance is the base (Line BC). The height (Li
  2. AVID... Kewl! I have a good time with the M-Audio people at the outlet here in Nagoya.
  3. Yeah here it is. It won't load for me personally hough. Shrug.. http://www.cesweb.org/expocadvr2/shows/ces07/start.html
  4. You can see the NAB floor, zoom and pan around at: http://www.nab.org/nabshow/vr2/shows/nab2007/start.html I think there's one like that for CES too if you're interested.
  5. NAB... National Association of Broadcasters. An expo (show) with buttloads and buttloads of TV broadcasting and film making equipment. Items and products range from $50 still digitizers/mice and keyboards etc. to $70,000 video editing decks, $100,000 camera heads and million dollar editing suits, etc. etc. The show is truly huge! The guys from NewTek that do the show tell me there's just no way you could see everything in a week. CES... Consumer Electronics Show It's also huge bu I think the average cost of the items there is a lot lower on average than NAB. Everything fr

Ummm I dunno... 8 months? and now it's been about 2 years. I cut a few centimeters off every few months - you know - split-ends and stuff. So I only get about 1cm a month total growth.

Hey look out - the next step is individualism! its not non-conformity when EVERYBODY and their dog does it. [/QB] Well, it's against the "established majority" however you look at it. But I thought like you too when I was in high school and everyone was metal, punk, mod, or jock. I was all like, Umm
  8. My current girlfriend as well as my wife when she was alive, loved it. After facial hair gets long it's all soft and cuddly. I think you could call it a marital aid in many situations! ah-hem...
  9. Yup, we were part of the "Snow Management" team. The system we used sent HIGH pressure hot steam through an underground pipe system. There were access points at various locations along each run. Sometimes you can see these access points under the chairs - there will be a hole (3 to 5 meter wide pit) in the snow and a pipe sticking up (or sometimes a tiny shed covering it). We hooked up hoses (that look like extra large fire hoses), attached various nozzles (depending on the temp, humidity, and area needed to cover) and then skied from hose to hose all night long changing the position and dir
  10. LOL... My 21-year-old son used to (and still does actually) ask like that (to me) when he was 16 and 17. Son: Kyo, nampa yaritai. ii? Skin aru yo. Dad: K, be careful! Make SURE you use it! You need some money? Son: Nn! My other 3 kids never do such a thing but that kinda made me laugh reading your last sentence there - knowing that my kid did that.
  11. Nice!!! I'd cut back and forth to another clip tho. Time each take so that it happens on a beat of the soundtrack - a little pro tip fer ya. Nice BGM too!
  12. Thanks everyone. Yeah, that's kinda why I decided to write it up. It's pretty good but not really one of the more popular ones - which makes it better imo - less people! -- Resorts I worked at: Snow Summit, http://www.snowsummit.com/index_winter.php Gold Mine, (umm, now it's called Bear Mountain) http://www.bearmountain.com/ Mammoth http://www.mammothmountain.com/ June http://www.junemountain.com/stats/ I took the GED and got out of High School, did this for 5 years while working as a fra

At about 12 I thought it was critical to "being" that I know everything I could about all the major religions. So I got heavily into self-study, read hundreds of books, and of course all the texts, etc. etc. till I was about 27. I studied with a few Born Agains... they're alright. I guess if I were to classif
  14. I even wanna try those indoor summer hills. That's what a slut I am.

  16. Quote: Originally posted by daver: it is sick because adults are taking advantage of children. In America maybe where the family unit is suffering greatly. Not here - that I see. And not in the US where families are still functioning. That's what parental guidance is all about. Just like Samurai san said above. We're not talking about forced rape here. We may not even be talking about fornication out of wedlock. Quote: it may have been acceptable in the past but at least in that respect we as a western culture have evolved. I honestly think we've devolved! More corrupt
  17. Why is it sick-o? I don't want to do any of the 13 or 14 year-olds I know but why are people (especially Americans) always on about this stuff? I don't get it. It's all based on culture and the standards IT sets. During one era 10 and 12 was quite acceptable. Just 150 years ago and less 13 was a full man in most places. Marriage around that same age was very wide spread. No one questioned it and no one thought it was sick. Yet now the "moral majority" and the right wing "political Christians" get in a place where it's profitable to throw those societal norms into whack extremes and sudd
  18. It seems a large portion of my life has been spent tessellating things virtually. So just took it to the super-hero level for a nick. Gigantor and other ____tors... you know...

I don't think they have onsen in Vegas (I could be wrong - maybe at the Imperial Palace hotel?) but if they did - there would probably be beer, blackjack and Baccarrat in the onsen! Nope, never been to a NAB nor a CES. I'd like to some day though. Been to too many shows in Japan.. ug! NewTek has only flown me to the states once and it was just for a week of Business. For sure no onsens... But there was beer.
  20. Hehehe... I ain't touching that! ... If I told you how many hours a week I spend observing folks arguing over what's the best CG app... OMG hehe it's a frigging religion. I'm not saying you or anything... I just thought it was funny seeing that.
  21. Sounds killer! I love the results I get in World Construction Set for stuff like that. Or if I wanna spend a little more time with it LightWave, XSI, or Maya of course do a good job. Here's WCS: http://3dnature.com/ but the site graphics are much lammer than the typical results I see with it.
  22. It's a 410meter incline over a distance of 1,700meters. The longest run is about 2k as the wheel rolls but if you can do about 200meters of dense woods there's a 3k run. This is more like the "feeling" one gets standing at the bottom and looking up. Well kinda... Google earth won't let me place the camera right on the ground so we're still actually viewing it from the top of a 100 story building or so.
  23. it's just the Photo. That one face there (that kinda looks it in that photo {top-Left}) I promise you won't attempt without gathering your courage first. But that's not a photo... That's google earth - which is prolly why it looks so flat... Hehehehe I should have set the terrain exaggeration to 4x and then you'd be thinking Snow Summit was the worlds most dangerous and advanced resort! ;P
