  1. I am travelling to NZ in August, does anybody know of a clean, cheap place to stay in Wanaka. I will have a car so transport is not a issue. Thank you.
  2. New Zealand - 3 weeks in August, baaaaaaaaa
  3. I found the info , but i think they only do backcountry snowmobiling, not backcountry skiing? niseko snowmobile adventures. I wonder?
  4. be careful pushing big gears as you will blow a knee, free weights , squats are good leg conditioners, also try a rowing machine as these done properly are 100% leg strength.
  5. Im having no luck trying to track down the snowmobile crew at Niseko? anyone?
  6. Just ordered my Pieps beacon, of to NZ in August. Thanks guys!
  7. Where ever you end up you will find something special! that's Japan.
  8. I was on a Cape york motorbike trip and we stopped at a pub, walked in the door and there was a cattle dog sitting in the corner with sunglasses on, no s**t.
  9. apparently these guys with the snowmobiles are doing guided backcountry tours, you ride one of there sleds with a guide showing you the way, dont really know the full details though!
  10. Learn some basic Japanese, Organise your self a k van, buy it ,buy a map, pack the k with all your important gear eg: snow/surf board, music and hit the road, of course you gonna need some money to do this. Japan is a great place with many friendly people, you will find somewhere that you love. Good luck!
  11. Hey Boothy, A 2 week trip is always a hard one. To really ski some good terrain in Hokkaido you have to hit the road. Ski niseko for a a week, then get out of there, good move.Dont completely write of Niseko totally,as i said in another topic post there is a crew doing backcountry access by snowmobile making the Niseko area huge!.Anyway make sure you get your international drivers licence and hire a car and buy a map and hit the road, there is a lot of good terrain out there, be kind and respect the locals and you will feel the real Japan! I have heard that this season there will be dude in Ni
  12. Le spud, after thinking about the extra functions i do agree, not really practical and as with any fully optioned thing, they chew battery power quickly, not ideal.
  13. I think that is true in a lot of cases. I am fortunate to have covered alot of Japan' mountains, but i still return to Nisekos powder. Last season was insane as we come across some guys doing Niseko backcountry access by snowmobile, there is some pretty wild backcountry out there!! it makes me laugh as most of it is right under the Aussies noses.
  14. Good review Lespud, pretty much sums it up, i see the new upgrade gives you altitude, temp and a compass. I think my choice is clear, the next question is buy local or Canada?
  15. I'm looking at buying a new beacon, the Pieps units seem like a good unit with quick search functions. Does anyone own one of these units or used one before. Thanks
