  1. I fully agree Oyuki. And whether this is just an off-season (and everywhere has bad seasons all the time) or the result of what we are doing to the planet........ the matter of global warming still needs to be discussed and addressed - because in the end our ski resorts will end up like this every year. Well done Oyuki for organising this event, i'm looking forward to it! I hope lots of people come!!!
  2. crew, did anyone go to yanaba last nite? oyuki - the warm winter bothers me, and global warming/environmental issues in general also (plus you promised there might be hot ski boys?)... i'm reading an interesting little book about climate change in advance of your event, and will try to round up some troops from hakuba to come over to nagano for the evening. AK - will you be in action for this? hopefully by then the doctors will have re-structered him back to his previous brad pitt looks (well ermmm brad in '7 years in tibet' at least) by then?
  3. checked out the G7 - that is one retro lookin very cool little camera, don't have enough money for one of those aswell, but maybe one day. for now i need to choose a DSLR and lenses.
  4. what's the G7 ian? yeh i'm serious about iceland --- i want to climb in the atlas mountains and do some photography in morocco, but need a climbing partner. if i can't find one, i'll take my tent and a mountain bike to iceland instead. probably less chance of having expensive photography equipment stolen in iceland, so maybe i'll just go there anyway! you are coming over to japan soon right?
  5. it's just a little digital canon ixy 4 megapixels ..... just wait until i get a big camera .... you'll get sick of looking at my photos, i'll take so many!
  6. yo people bantering away on the net about lack of snow..... get down to oyuki kigan's global warming/film event next saturday http://www.snowjapanforums.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/7475.html?
  7. yo yo oyuki... well the plan before he broke his head was to have dinner in nagano and come to your event.... but maybe frank will be in hospital then? anyway, i think i will be coming, it sounds really interesting and i'd like to see bikecar!!!! and i should go and look at cameras in nagano while i'm there too. have you had a lot of feedback, are many people going?
  8. i don't know much about canon lenses...... YET! am in the middle of research... don't sigh at me kuma
  9. ALL the reviews.... or that one that seemed like it was written by someone who works for Nikon?
  10. yo people i'm not going to yanaba tonite, might go on thursday? could be in for the movie at 902 tonite though, anyone know what is on?
  11. so really i'm either looking at..... Nikon D80 with 18-135mm kit lens (and going on some waiting list for the 18-200mm lens, then when that arrives, sell the kit lens) OR Canon EOS 30D with 18-55mm kit lens and then buying the EF 55-200mm lens ... but ultimately that nikon 18-200mm lens would be perfect considering i want to take this camera into the desert and who knows where else. have decided that if i can't find someone to climb the atlas mountains with, i'll opt for a photography mission with a tent and a mountain bike around iceland
  12. are you sure you don't want to sell me your 18-200mm and buy that 20man lens you've been talking about?
  13. mmm yeh last year AK was deciding between the cheaper MSR's with no heel risers, or the ones with.... can't remember which ones he got. fubuki - remember that windy snowy november we ventured up to tateyama to drink wine lol? i used MSR's with heel risers on that trip, not that i could hike for shit though. only pics i can find with the MSR's in..... hmmmm not totally useful pics, but these are the good MSR snowshoes!
  14. give me digits kumapix and i'll pull the trigger..... but don't i have to wait 3 months for a 18-200mm lens, you waited from october on a waiting list for yours. it's a or b or it's... canon? ARGGGGH
  15. atlas snowshoes look like they might fall apart - msr's are just one piece of hard plastic. if i was buying snowshoes i'd definitely buy msr's. ask AK - he uses msr's.
  16. i told u shintani has an awful reputation -- i told a colleague this morning after she overheard me talking to you on the phone, that you went to shintani and she just stared back wide-eyed -- in hakuba people think he is a bad doctor, but i'm not speaking from personal experience, just what i've heard. AK i'm not sure if chicks dig scars, but this could solve all your girl problems!! lol no seriously, start investing in a collection of hats, instead of a collection of skate shoes. did you shave off the beard yet? you really did look like cave boy lost in the backcountry f
  17. jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez kuma thank god you still look good phewww i'm confused, what did you break?

  19. aha the ultimate powder tune....... citizen cope 'bullet and a target' .... but somehow reminds me of driving FT's car up and down rivers all summer long on a kayak mission lol
  20. perhaps not worth it fubuki? it's fun, but it's not worth almost 3.5 hours driving in one night to get up and back down. you've got a 47 pass tho so let's go to the park there sometime soon!
