  1. Hopefully you drop off his bulk TXT/email list now...
  2. So has the party happened yet, and did you hear about it, or end up going?
  3. Cultural thing... I get it. Hormones? Well I guess we all roll the dice there...
  4. Hang on, someone with a $700000+/month income has a mortgage??!! That's f****d up. Surely she could have just paid cash for the house/mansion/palace... I'll go out on a limb here... White Trash.
  5. If you are renting a car, they can come with GPS on-board, but only in Japanese script/voice. If you get the guy at the car rental agency to program the destination for you, then just follow the line on the map, and drown out the verbal directions with loud music, if you can't disable it. Got us to our destination from Narita to Hakuba with only one detour (which was my fault, not the GPS unit's). Hokkaido should be a piece of cake, by comparison, provided the roads are all open.
  6. I'm not an obstetrician, but the issues are heat/time in onsen, and in natural onsens, bacterial contamination. Both bad for baby. If she has a chlorinated onsen at the hotel, and the temperature can be set to below 38C/100F, then that might be OK. I'm curious about the beef ban, Thursday. The others make some sense, but if the beef is well done, it shouldn't be a problem, and is a rich source of iron.
  7. I got the UUD maps, ausiskibum, and they're pretty good. I used them with a eTrex Vista C GPS unit and nRoute on PC. Street navigatable point to point (some trouble getting through Tokyo, though) for about $100AU. Topographical detail (10m) too. Comes on a CD, though, so you might have to work out a way to get it onto the Nuvi.
  8. Pregnant belly, slippery footpaths, no alcohol, no onsen, no skiing (but having to hear all about it afterwards)... sounds like a dream holiday
  9. The airlines would probably let her fly at 30 weeks, but if she's worried about preterm labour, she should rethink whether it's worth going...
  10. Would be nice to see the Rosberg boy step up to the mark...
  11. The facilities at Hakuba are pretty basic, and if she's going into labour at 7 1/2 months, she (or at least her baby) would need to be transferred to a city hospital, presumably Matsumoto, or even Nagano.
  12. Moving on, have there been rumours yet of a replacement for Alonso?
  13. That's bullshit. may as well hand every driver's and constructor's titles to Ferrari for the next decade... will save a lot of petrol.
  14. How far do you two go back? I know with some of my old friends from school, we only ever see each other at our kids' birthday parties anymore. If there's food and booze on offer, and there's a bunch of other people who you'd like to catch up with going along, what do you lose by going? Don't go overboard on the gift, though.
  15. Isn't that what they did with the iPhone? Then they ran around offering in-store credit to all the pissed-off early buyers who paid full price when they first came out.
  16. C'mon, my iPod's HD is bigger'n that! My PC HDD is only 40G (ultraportable VAIO), my first came with a 2G drive which I though I'd never fill.
  17. Everyone should be happy with that. let's hope that's how it turns out. I've been waiting some years for Kimi to win the championship, and to get it in the final race of the season, by one point over 2nd and 3rd, was the best result for Formula One. Everyone will be keenly waiting for '08.
  18. Did he know the meaning? It sounds like it described him better.
  19. Ron Dennis is probably still fuming at having all his Constructor's points taken away over the spying thing. He won't let it be, there's too much $$$$ at stake. And rules are rules, if they've been breached, then there should be a penalty. Some would say that the stewards are again playing favourites so that Ferrari end up on top, just like in the good old days, when MS could run everyone else off the track and get away with it.
  20. Not over yet, McLaren are looking to appeal the stewards' decision not to penalise BMW and Williams for fuel temerature irregularities (how many technical rules are there?!?!). If they are disqualified on appeal, the title could change hands *careful not to throw a spoiler in*...
  21. Oh I know, which is why I get a laugh out of the snow reports here. Dump = 5-10cm
  22. After last season, who can blame the PR people for hyping it up. Even in crappy seasons, the snow reports on the TV always make it sound a lot better than it really is... some of the reports I've seen before have been outright lies, I couldn't believe they were being delivered with a straight face.
