  1. Not 酒爆弾? (I have not come across the kanji 凡歩 are you saying Sakebomb is a 'mediocre skier'? ) By the by, Gamera, do you offer discount to forum member staying at your inn? Is it in Hakuba?
  2. Jeeze, I didn't know we share something in common, Rach. Some of my Japanese friends are just cool. One of them knows so many lonely, lunch-buying paralegal jokes that it is incredible!
  3. Quote: Patrol as facilitators rather than oppressors. Everyone is an oppressor to you. I think some of them also work as instructors. Those I 'met' are actually quite friendly. You know, I can be a grinning sycophant if necessary!
  4. I am not saying things cannot be changed of course. But changes need driving and people who are commit to drive the changes. I believe there are enough people who enjoy skiing off-piste and maybe if the preference is clear enough the ski resorts will have to rethink their off-piste policy. So you are right and to use your curious phrase - “speak with your pocket book”!
  5. Numbers are important but not as important as the bottom line. And needless to say, you can do a bunch of things to achieve the sort of profit level you want. And I don’t think any comment is necessary whether they make better photos.
  6. I am sorry to say this but what most people in this forum want will not make any difference, at least in Japan, for now. Ski resorts, like any sensible business, exist to make money and if possible, with as little hassle as possible. So what if it makes a few more people happier? It simply does not make sense to incur the extra costs (not to mention risk). Better to concentrate on chasing the easy big tickets i.e. families, couples, people who are likely to spend more but don’t worry too much about staying within the robes. No?
  7. Not much better than your poor plant. Now considering鯵ヶ沢 – supposed to have gentle slopes, fairly good onsen and stunning view of the sea and even Hokkaido on a clear day.
  8. Quote: I know you always treasure my advice Of course I do. Just that slow has better taste.
  9. slow, thanks again - they are beautiful. I prefer the GP but have yet to make a decision.
  10. slow, you know I always treasure your advice. I will find out which hotels.
  11. Thanks for some of the suggestions. I heard Nozawa is great but quite crowded. Smaller, less known resort is probably better. We could drive around a bit.
  12. Any suggestion for a romantic, not crowded, Christmas resort (GF still taking lesson)?
  13. It seems that Japanese law relating to the people in black vans is still really backward. I just don’t understand how people can put up with the moronic (to the point of amusing) messages and silly songs.
  14. Money makes people do things they know they shouldn't do.
  15. What's wrong with you - can't figure out what is right and wrong yourself?
  16. What do we do with people who claim that “There is a voice in my head telling me to…”? What has that got to do with religious fanaticism?
  17. http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1586978,00.html hmmm, that is almost impossible to argue against, isn't it?
  18. Yeah, unlike the heels which can stay on.
  19. It is nothing compared to the cost of the relationship over time, don't you think?
  20. Some studies say women are better players than men.
  21. That’s probably the most widely perceived image of stock investors and that is missing the true challenge of playing the game. It is not even about money, as I was at pain to point out.
  22. Ocean, little Kenny will have to start his financial education early and is expected to master the Black-Scholes model before entering primary school! Indosmn, everyone will lose money in the beginning. The important thing is whether one understands why. Anyway I plan to invest only 2mm (so that she will have to concentrate on a handful of stocks) and that’s all she can lose. So I’d say the risk is manageable.
  23. Thanks, me Jane!! GF and I often joke about leaving the financial world and go and live in places like Nagano or Okinawa and have a few babies and I would learn to fish/farm and we can just live by managing our investments through the internet!
